And They Came For Me
Georgia Ensemble Theatre visited Riverside to perform "And They Came For Me" for 5th grade students. This powerful performance recounted the stories of the hidden children of the Holocaust, their time at concentration camps, and their rescue. Students experienced a live performance interspersed with actual video interviews of Holocaust survivors. Thank you PTA academic programming for bringing us this moving performance!
Linus Project Update
4th grade students were recently invited to an after-school event to make no-sew fleece blankets for Project Linus. They did a great job making 30 blankets along with “Get Well” cards, all of which will be donated to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Aflac Cancer Center in honor of Riverside student Hailey Lloyd, who is currently receiving treatment there for Ewing’s Sarcoma.
In addition, Riverside families were also encouraged to participate in the project on their own. We collected 27 handmade blankets that will go to a local CHOA location right here in Gwinnett. Great job, Rockets!
Thank you, Riverside families, for your thoughtful generosity and thank you to all of the volunteers that helped with the after-school event!
