New Enrichment Classes Starting April 11

After spring break we will be offering some new enrichment classes (and some will stay the same). Students should attend the first day of the class to enroll. Updated Schedule here.

NEW Class Description

Middle School/High School Bike Class: We will review basic bike maintenance, how to change and repair a flat tire, saife trail and road riding. Bike and helmet are required (if you need a helmet please let MB know and she will try to help). This will be a team activity and we will focus on supporting each other (not speed).

1-4 Coding: Learn the basics of coding and make your own program using

K-2 Physical Fitness: Outside (setting personal goals, endurance, fine and gross motor skills, rhythm)

3-4 Bike Team: We will review basic bike maintenance, how to change and repair a flat tire, saife trail and road riding. April 25-May 6 Testing Schedule

April 25-May 6 OCEAN students will be participating in Smarter Balance ELA and Math testing, Washington State Science testing, and STAR testing. Students in grades 3-8, 10 and 11 will all participate in the required testing. There are changes to the regular class schedule during the two weeks of testing so please carefully look at the schedule below.

Summer Blast 2022

Port Townsend Schools is offering a FREE 2022 Summer Blast program which offers academic and enrichment opportunities for students entering 1st to 9th grade. Summer Blast programs take place Monday through Friday. OCEAN students are invited to attend.

  • Incoming first through fifth graders will be at Salish Coast Elementary 8:45 am - 3:15 pm.

  • Incoming sixth through ninth graders will be at Blue Heron Middle 9:00 am - 3:30 pm.

Summer Blast will be offered in two sessions this year:

  • Session 1- July 11 - July 22

  • Session 2 - July 25 - Aug. 5

Please fill out the interest survey for current K-8 students here. Space is limited and priority will be given to students that have been identified by OCEAN teachers as requiring summer intervention and enrichment programs. We will confirm whether or not your student can attend no later than May 2, 2022.

Current high schoolers will receive information about credit recovery opportunities happening online and in person at Blue Heron Middle School July 11- August 5.

8th Grade Family Info Night

We will be sharing about high school options for 8th grade families to plan for next school year. We will discuss OCEAN, Online Program , and Port Townsend High School as well as high school requirements.

Lost and Found

Come visit the lost and found in the OCEAN office to find long lost items.

New Student Application Open for 2022-23 School Year

The application for new students to join OCEAN K-12 for the 2022-23 school year is now open. If you know of any students interested in joining OCEAN K-12 next school year their families should complete an online application. We will follow up with application in June to confirm if space is available for new students.

OCEAN 2022-23 New Student Application

Returning OCEAN students will be sent a returning student survey in the coming weeks to indicate if they plan to continue in OCEAN next school year. Returning students DO NOT need to complete an application.

Important Information for High School Students

Running Start Info Sessions

Learn how high school juniors and seniors can earn college credit tuition free.

What is Running Start?

It is an opportunity to receive dual credits to fulfill both high school and college credits. This means that each 10 week class at Peninsula College can cover 1.0 credits per subject or electives.

At the end of high school, you can also graduate with an Associate Degree from Peninsula College.

When can I apply?

The enrollment process takes place the quarter before you plan to start classes. You must have all your paperwork in before enrolling in classes. Registration for fall quarter starts on May 27, 2021.
