Important things in History.
Michael Harrington
In the 1950s-1960s, Michael Harrington had published a novel called, "In the Other America: Poverty in the U.S", this novel showed brutal reality of poverty. It was published in New York in 1962.
Michael had published the book so he could show people how bad Poverty really was. As a result of the novel, people noticed that poverty is a big deal, such a big deal that it even got President JFK's attention.
Elvis Presley
In the 1950s, Elvis Presley had become very popular. Elvis was known as the "King of Rock 'n' Roll", before he became famous he sang in church. Elvis's significance was his music brought people together. Elvis had been a huge part of Rock 'n' Roll history, he had paved away Rock 'n' Roll for other bands in the 1950s. If Elvis hadn't been apart of singing in the church he might have not been such a big deal, as a result of singing and being a part of music he had been discovered, and changed history.
