A Message from Principal Cockerill

Below you will see a copy of the communication that was sent out yesterday in regard to the continuation of required distance learning through May 29.

Please know that our staff at both GES and GJSHS recognize that this is a time of great challenge for our schools, community, and country. We are doing our part to support our students in continuing their learning and education, even when it looks so very different from anything we have ever experienced. We know that this will make us all better at what we do and that we will never again take for granted one single moment that we have our students in our classrooms and hallways.

Please make sure that your child is checking his/her school email and Google Classroom daily, attending online classroom meetings, and that you are communicating with teachers if you need packets. Beginning April 27, teachers will be moving from supplemental work back to delivering new content and we want all of our students to participate. If you are having trouble connecting to the internet, please let your teacher know or stop by the cafeteria Monday-Friday from 7:30-10:00 a.m. to let us know. The Distance Learning Schedule for GJSHS is below. GES teachers have meetings set up through Google Classroom.

Stay healthy, stay engaged, and stay connected!

We miss you like crazy!

Google Calendar, Gmail, and Classroom, Oh My!

The focus of the 1:1 Laptop/Chromebook Program in PUSD is to prepare students for their futures in a world of digital technology and information. Every student has a gmail account. Our students are very familiar with this and use it to log into their devices. During this time of distance learning, students should be checking their google calendars, gmail (email), and google classroom DAILY. These are the primary ways that some teachers are communicating with students, sending, and collecting online work. It's very simple--just have your child log into his/her account and click on the icons like those pictured above.

If you have any questions or need support, please e-mail Jennifer Martin at jmartin@pcoe.k12.ca.us or Tanya Timmins at ttimmins@pcoe.k12.ca.us.

Updated School Closure Meal Distribution

Meals are served Monday - Friday from 7:30-10:00 a.m. at the cafeteria or delivered at bus stops.

Here to Help

Need to talk? We understand that this can be a challenging time for all of our Greenville students and families. If you want someone to talk to Ms. Mongiello, our Assistant Principal of Student Supports, is here for you. You can reach out if you’re struggling or just need someone to talk to. Please email her at emongiello@pcoe.k12.ca.us. She will work with you to set up a time to talk either by phone, email, Zoom, or Google Hangout. Please feel free to reach out.

Here are some other options for support-

California has a peer run warm line-phone and web based chat options. They have a policy that you can access it every 4 hours if needed. It does not have to be an emergency to talk to someone. Phone number is: 1-855-845-7415 and webchat can be found at www.mentalhealthsf.org.

If it is an emergency you can always contact the National Suicide Prevention Hotline by calling 1-800-273-8255 or texting HOME to 741741.
