News and Notes about #BeBCMS-Welcome Home- Issue 1 2018
And.....WELCOME BACK FAMILY!
I have had an ELITE summer of just a flexible schedule! I now have TWO high schoolers and a middle schooler and a hustling husband going into season 3! SSU camp starts next week and I am as pumped to see our guys back on campus as I am to see you and our scholars!
I want you to feel ready and prepared for Monday so this newsletter will be devoted to helping you prepare for an ELITE and organized week! It will be a packed week! You will have time in your rooms throughout every day, but very limited on Monday. Thursday is open house and we need everyone to have rooms and halls and boards ready to go! First Impressions are everything! We get one chance to set the tone for an ELITE school year!
Some New Nuggets:
- This year, grade level teachers will have duty free lunch! Administration, support , and Connections staff will be supervising the lunch time. We will not be having a "break" outside this year. We will see how the first month goes before we make any decision regarding break for the year.
- Each grade level team needs to communicate to parents weekly what is going on in classes. This can be through REMIND, email, or google classroom. It also needs to be posted on the website-- we will have grade level website pages. The more transparent we are with parents and the more we communicate, the better our year will be!
- Each teacher needs to send home at least a 9 week syallbus (scope and sequence) so parents know what to expect from a currciulum stand point in your class
- MATH will be using the www.engageny.org curriculum.
- ELA will be using the APS curriculum
- Everyone will be getting a standards binder to begin the year
Coming this week:
- Technology assignments, policies, procedures (Thursday meeting at 1:00-1:30)
- Supply Lists for staff
- Furniture record keeping
