Knights of the Week

Helen Liu, Ethan O'Brien, Simmi Purohit, and Mathew Zamora were recognized this week for being trustworthy!

STAAR Testing: Tuesday, March 29 and Wednesday March 30

All 5th graders will be taking the Math Staar test on Tuesday, March 29 and their Reading Staar test on Wednesday, March 30. It is very important that your kiddo be at school those days. Please make sure you have not scheduled any appointments on either of those days. We want every student to have the best opportunity to show all that they have learned so far this year!

Since we did not need to make up any bad weather days, Friday March 25th is a student holiday!

A Note From Nurse Cindy

Norton Knights and Parents: We love to see you at school and ready to participate when you are well! However, if there comes a time when you are not, please give your body the opportunity it needs to rest and recover and stay home. If you come to school when you are ill, you are

· putting yourself at risk of prolonging your illness

· at risk of picking up other illnesses since your immune system is already compromised

· very often spreading your germs (whether viruses or bacteria, even with no fever), to others around you.

Please be a kind Norton Knight since we all want to treat others the way we want to be treated. If you ever have a question about whether or not you should send your Norton Knight to school due to symptoms of illness, please call Nurse Cindy and she will be happy to discuss the situation with you. Thank you for your consideration of others.

Happy Birthday to Luke Armstrong!

Enterprise City Field Trip - Friday April 22

Please make sure you have sent your student's permission slip and $13 payment by Thursday, March 24. If you are sending a check, please remember to make it payable to Norton Elementary and include your phone number and drivers license information.

Thank you so much to all of the parents who will be chaperoning our trip. All of the slots are already full! This could be a record!

World Cultures Day Info

Parent Volunteer Information Meeting for World Cultures Day, 2016 to be held on Tuesday, March 29 at 6:00 pm in the Norton Multipurpose Room. World Cultures Day is Friday, May 20, 2016. On this day, students will “travel the world” with passports learning about different countries and cultures. This event would not be possible without our parent volunteers!

Want to be part of a FUN and ENGAGING annual event at Norton? We are looking for helpers for our World Cultures Day! This event takes place DURING the school day.

We need volunteers to…………….

*Host a Country Booth (you do not need to be a native of the country, it could be a place you have visited or even a place you just are interested in and can create an interesting booth for students to visit)

*Help teach a Native Game or Dance at the International Games Booth

*Help students create Multicultural Crafts at the Multicultural Art Booth

*Serve samples at the International Tasting Booth

*Traffic flow helpers/behind the scenes helpers (cutting/prepping supplies, etc.)

If interested, please attend the Parent meeting on March 29. If you can’t attend the meeting but are interested in volunteering for World Cultures Day, contact your child’s classroom teacher, Annette at the front desk or Maria Seid @ or (972) 396-6918, ext. 108.
