March 2023 Edition
Principal's Message
Dear Falmouth Falcon Families,
As we move into the last quarter of the year, it is a great time to review the strategies and resources needed to help your child succeed.
#1 Attendance: Students should attend school daily.
Students should be attending school daily to the greatest extent possible. This is very important as we need to maximize instructional time with students.
#2 Communicate: Parents and students should communicate with the teacher when questions arise. Each of our staff members has a Stafford County Public Schools email address that allows you to contact them directly (click here for the staff email roster). Additionally, voicemail messages can also be left for teachers. We ask that you allow 48 hours for teachers/staff to respond to an email and 24 hours for teachers/staff to respond to a voicemail message.
#3 Completed Work & Report Cards: Review your child’s completed work and report card.
Families should review completed work together to take note of both successes and challenges. Working on the areas of weakness at home will help your child find greater success at school. Report cards will be available in ParentVue on Friday, March 24th.
#4 Foster Healthy Sleep Habits
The American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends the following sleep hours for school-aged children:
5 year-olds: 10-13 hours of sleep
6 to 12-year-olds: 9-12 hours of sleep
Thank you again for sharing your child(ren) with us each day!
Sincerely,
Dr. Sallie Burch

PE News
As all of you are reading this newsletter, we will be in our last week of the Kids Heart Challenge. This particular week is when we will be doing Kids Heart Challenge activities in all classes, all week long, when students come to PE. At the time this newsletter was submitted, our students and their families and friends have collected over $5,700 in donations! Every single dollar goes to the American Heart Association and toward medical research to help treat and find cures for all types of heart disease.
Before the Kids Heart Challenge week, our 3rd - 5th graders completed a 3 week volleyball unit. At the same time, the Kindergarten - 2nd graders practiced catching with scoops and striking yarn balls with paddles.
As soon as we get back from Spring Break, all classes will start their spring Run for Fun. Please make sure that students are wearing tennis shoes and the proper clothing for warmer temperatures that are sure to be arriving soon.

ITRT News
From: Mr. DuPont (FES ITRT)
Hello again FES families,
I know that teachers, parents, and students have continued to access and become familiar with new instructional resources and technology throughout the school year. SCPS and FES are here to support and assist you in any way we can. With that in mind, I wanted to remind everyone that there are resources that the ITRT team has put together, including Technology FAQs. That document, as well as other support materials, can be accessed from the FES Homepage. There, you can also find other helpful resources under the Parent Quick Links button and Parent and Students Resources tab.
