Loveland High School
October 6, 2022
Happy October!
I want to give a quick shout out to all of our students and staff who made Homecoming 2022 such an exciting and memorable week! From the football game to the dance, our students represented our community at the highest level. Our Student Council deserves to be recognized for an incredibly well-planned week! Go Red Wolves!
Also, we are so proud of our marching band who traveled to the Band of America competition in Flagstaff, AZ, this past weekend and placed first in their region! Go Crimson Regiment!
October brings us several important calendar items - please see these listed in the “Important Dates” section at the end of our newsletter. As we continue to make LHS events more meaningful for families, we have added several workshops for families to consider attending during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Wednesday night, October 19th. Please consider one or more of the following options:
4:30-5:00 How to Support Your Freshman Student - Library
Meet other families and share what is working and not working for your freshman student during their first year of high school. Learn about best practices to support freshmen at school and at home.
5:30-6:00 LGBTQ+ Family and School Supports - Library
Discuss what we can do to better the experience at LHS for LGBTQ+ students.
6:30-7:00 Apoyo Para las Familias Latinas - Library
Hablamos de lo que podemos hacer para mejorar sistemas en la escuela para nuestras familias
latinas.
7:00-8:00 Junior Parent Night - Auditorium
Preparing junior students and families for their senior year.
Teachers will be located in their classrooms for families to visit throughout the evening and again on Thursday, October 20th, from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (no conferences from 11:30-12:30 for teacher lunch break). Teacher meetings do not need to be scheduled in advance.
Again, we look forward to welcoming all families to our school during Parent/Teacher Conferences! Please feel free to email me with any questions at michael.james@tsd.org
Cheers and have a great October!
Michael James
PLEASE REVIEW FAMILY PERMISSIONS IN ANNUAL STUDENT REGISTRATION
LHS IB Diploma Programme Exam Registration is underway!
If you are currently enrolled in an IB DP course, you are eligible to take the exams this May. Taking the IB exam is the only way to receive college credit for the course. In addition, you will gain the valuable experience of taking a high-stakes test. You can ask your IB teacher(s), email michelle.ray@tsd.org, or complete the pre-registration form if you are interested. The deadline to register is October 31st. Late registration is possible but there is an extra fee.
IB Learner Profile Inquirer Awards were given to the following students: Emma Gregoire, Cassiano Filho, McKayley Lane, Sloane Renner, and Jay Ward. Each student received lunch from Firehouse sub and a certificate. We will be honoring students who emulate the Knowledgeable trait in the Learner Profile lunch on Oct. 12th. All IB DP full diploma or course candidates are welcome to attend the lunch. The nominees will be rewarded with a certificate and an extra treat.
There will be an IB Community Meeting October 25th from 5-6 p.m. in the LHS Library. We will share what is happening as well as our future plans for IB. Anyone who wants to learn about IB at LHS and/or share ideas is welcome. Contact michelle.ray@tsd.org for more information.
