Message To Our Students & Families
Parents & Guardians:
Please find below some information expanding on Superintendent Lamarche’s update from April 7, 2020.
This communication will outline the guidance covering the remaining portion of Term #3. Both middle school principals have worked hard at ensuring our combined staffs are in lockstep with each other. By doing this, we bring our best resources, our teachers, together to formulate ERLOs (Enhanced Remote Learning Opportunities) that connect the learning for all of our students. Please know that we are continuously available to you through office hours, phone or emails. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Be well and stay healthy.

Closing out Term #3 ~ end of term extended to Friday, April 17, 2020
Makeup Work from Prior to March 12, 2020:
Beginning Thursday (April 9, 2020) and for the remainder of Term 3, teachers will provide makeup work from Term 3 to individual students having missing assignments via Google Classroom with a due date of Friday, April 17. Makeup work will be prioritized to permit students with adequate opportunity and time to submit quality work through April 17. Some students may need to complete assessments that we missed due to absences and individual teachers will work with those students to determine how to capture their understanding and level of performance on those assessments. Any student with makeup work to submit should connect with the classroom teacher during Office Hours (CMS Office Hours)
Term 3 Grading and Report Cards:
Grades for Term 3 will close on Friday, April 17, 2020. Report cards will be posted to the Community Portal on Thursday, April 30, 2020.
Enhanced Remote Learning Opportunities for the week of April 13, 2020:
Beginning Monday (April 13, 2020), teachers will assign the ERLO’s directly to students via Google Classroom with a due date of Friday, April 17, 2020. Participation is strongly urged as these assignments will aid the transition coming in Term 4. ERLOs will be posted on the COVID-19 Information site and will also be shared via Google Classroom as assignments to students to allow for submission of completed work. Teachers will provide feedback on the submitted assignments; there will be no recorded grades for ERLO assignments in the gradebook. We are hopeful that the increased engagement in the coming week will enable students to become more strongly connected to their learning as we close out Term 3.
April Vacation Week:
We will have Remote Learning Opportunities available for students to engage with over the vacation period. Teachers are designing new activities to be posted here: remote learning opportunities beginning on Monday, April 20, 2020. These activities are meant to be available for families that wish to maintain engagement with learning.
Term 4 - Begins on Monday, April 27, 2020:
We are in the process of creating rubrics to measure student participation and learning engagement that will be used beginning on April 27, 2020 (the start of Term 4). Once established, we will communicate with you regarding expectations and accountability* for learning moving forward in Term 4.
* Although the vast majority of students designated as in need of services (i.e. students with disabilities or english language learners) will be able to be provided credit in accordance with these remote learning rubrics, there may be students who are in need of an alternate system of feedback in order for progress to be measured as established by accommodations, modifications and goals in his/her IEP, 504 plan or ELL plan. For these students, an accommodated rubric may be established in conjunction with his /her special education teacher(s), english language teacher, or 504 coordinator. This will be communicated to the parent(s)/caregiver(s) in the student's individualized continuity plan.
