Tiger Update
Information/Updates about Pickerington High School Central
Message from Mr. Lanier
Congratulations Class of 2023!! We are so happy to celebrate our seniors at the 113th Commencement Ceremony at World Harvest. The Class of 2023 left an incredible legacy during their time at Central and they will be missed. My question to our underclassmen is what will you do to leave your legacy in the coming years? I know that you have had a great example to follow; let's enjoy these final moments with the Class of 2023 and get ready to make more memories next year.
This will be the last edition of the Tiger Update until July...thank you to everyone for a great school year.
Have a great weekend!!
Tiger Up,
Mr. Lanier

Final Transcripts
Seniors wishing to have their final transcripts sent to the college they are planning to attend in the fall, will need to complete the Senior Graduation Survey (above) to have their transcripts sent. Many colleges will send multiple emails requesting these final transcripts from now until when they receive them. Please know that our registrar will send these transcripts as soon as they are complete with all final grades, which will most likely be in mid June. If Seniors do not list the correct college for the transcript to be sent to in the graduation survey,, or if they change their mind over the summer, they will need to contact Hilary Snelling at hilary_snelling@plsd.us
Summer School
Any students with the quarter grade of a D or F in a core academic class (Math, Science, Social Studies or English) were sent summer school information this week. Students who received the letter should double check with their teachers to determine what they need to do to pass their classes. Students who earn credit in the classes with at least a D- average will not have to attend summer school.
Summer Experiences!
Summer is a great time for students to discover career interests, college opportunities or learn new skills. Each spring we create a list of summer opportunities for our students and encourage them to participate! Whether it be a summer camp, part time job, internship, job shadowing, or summer classes or college campus opportunities, it will be a great learning experience and will look pretty good on a college or job resume as well! We will keep adding to this list as we become aware of more summer events.
Financial Aid/Scholarships
The Free Application For Student Aid, is the most important thing Seniors can do to get money for college. Seniors can also start searching for and completing scholarship applications. Here is a list of the scholarships our high schools have put together to help students locate scholarship opportunities . Applying is the only way to receive free money for college! Many deadlines are impending!
Preparing for College Entrance Exams
All PHSC students have access to a ACT test prep through their Naviance Account on Classlink. Students can open the application on their chromebook, scroll to the bottom of the first page in Naviance and click on test prep. Summer is a great time to take the time to start preparing. Many students will earn scholarships for high ACT scores. Students may also take the ACT test over the summer. Locations and dates as well as registration can be found at act.org.
Seeing your School Counselor
Students may request an appointment to see their school counselor, using the same form linked above, for a variety of reasons including:
•Struggling academically, socially or emotionally
•Problem-solving
•Career and College Counseling
•Conflict resolution
•Any general concerns

Central Art Students Participate in the Governor's Day for the Arts Recognition
Central was asked to participate in the Governor's Day for the Arts this past Wednesday at the Statehouse.
Since its beginning in 1971, the Governor's Awards has recognized individuals and organizations who have been vital to the growth and development of Ohio's cultural resources. One of the most prestigious arts events in Ohio, the Governor's Awards showcases and celebrates exceptional Ohio artists, arts organizations, arts leaders and patrons, and business support of the arts. Governor's Awards recipients are honored at a luncheon ceremony in Columbus, where they are presented with the only arts award in the state that is conferred by the governor. Each award winner receives an original piece of artwork created specifically for the event by an Ohio artist and the opportunity to share their story with other arts supporters statewide. This is also a time for legislators to be made aware of the impact of the arts on their community.
Students met with senators and legislation to pass out information on behalf of the Ohio Arts Council. The hope was that as the legislators went into chambers they were aware of the impact of the arts on our young people as they look to pass a $50 million dollar arts budget. The largest in recent history. They were given a tour of the statehouse and then recognized at the awards.
It was an honor to help out with this event.
The students were:
1. Alaysia Winters
2. Grace O'Grady
3. Sydney Olsen
4. Rome Jenkins
5. Courtney Fant
6. Daranii Asoba
They represented visual arts, theater, orchestra, choir, and band.
