Phalen Flyer
PLA@George H. Fisher School 93
Greetings PLA Families,
I can't believe it's September already! Scholars in grades 2-6 participated in their first "Spin the Wheel" this week. Be sure to ask your scholar about it. There is a lot of new or updated information in this week's newsletter.
Open House is next week! We hope to see you there. Additional information can be found below.
The Smile Mobile is coming to PLA@93 on September 12th and 13th. Forms were sent home this week. If you did not receive one and are interested in dental care for your child, please reach out to our school nurse, Nurse Webster.
LifeSmart health educators will be providing lessons to 4th-6th grade scholars on human growth and development on Tuesday, September 27th during the school day. Be on the lookout for this very important information being sent home next week.
Sincerely,
Mr. Hendricks
Principal-PLA@93
Open House-Tuesday, September 6, 2022
Our school's Open House will be taking place on Tuesday, September 6 from 5:00-7:00. This is a great time to tour the building and receive information from your scholar's teacher. We will have four sessions between 5:10 and 7:00. Doors will open at 5:00.
Session 1 5:10-5:30
Session 2 5:35-5:55
Session 3 6:00-6:25
Session 4 6:30-6:50
The building will close at 7:00. Sessions will start and end on time. I will make an announcement over our PA system when a session has ended. I have asked the teachers to close their doors at the start of a session to minimize interruptions. If their door is closed upon your arrival, please wait in the hall until the next session begins.
Each teacher will host the same classroom presentation for all four sessions. It is not necessary to attend all four sessions. If you have multiple children at school, you can meet with their teacher at any of the above listed times that is convenient for you. Open house is not the ideal time to have conferences about individual students. If you have concerns, please ask our teachers for their contact information so you can discuss your concerns at another time.
You can expect our teachers to discuss the following topics at Open House:
Progress Reports
Homework expectations
Uniforms
Teacher contact information
Weekly assessments and assessment schedule
Communication with front office (transportation, medical/nurse, absences)
Upcoming family events
Information for scholars struggling with reading and/or math
Classroom management and behavior plans

Parent ESSER Survey
Parents, we need your help. PLA93 has received money from the federal government and we would appreciate your input as to how you would like this money spent. ESSER is a stimulus and emergency COVID relief funding stream authorized as part of the CRRSA Act enacted on December 27, 2020. This additional funding stream is intended to help states and school districts safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the nation’s students. We are working to hear the voice of our stakeholders when determining use of funds. The allocations are only designated for very specific areas. Please provide us your feedback no later than December 23, 2022 using the following link: https://www.phalenacademies.org/essersurvey
