MCHS Red Phase Learning

Beginning Monday, November 23rd, Manheim Central School District will enter into the "Red Phase" of learning. This requires each MCHS Student to zoom into their classes following our daily schedule on M, T, R, & F. Asynchronous Learning will continue on Wednesdays as usual. Use the information below to help your learner navigate this new format of learning.

Learners Who Attend Outside Agencies

Please reference the chart below or link for guidance related to instructional format and transportation as it relates to any off-campus or non-MCSD placement. This will remain in effect unless the outside agency, MCSD, the PA Department of Education or Health, and/or Governor announce a different plan. MCHS will communicate these changes to families through Blackboard & Schoology.

Expectations of Learners During Zoom

  • Students will Zoom into each class according to the Daily Schedule on M, T, R, F. Links for Zoom can be found under each teacher's Schoology course.
  • Students must log in using the MCSD-issued device so that students are clearly identified. Non-school issued devices will not be allowed to enter the Zoom sessions due to security reasons.
  • Students must be in a quiet space with no distractions.
  • Students should be dressed according to the MCHS Dress Code Policy.
  • Cameras must be on and focused on the face of the student. Students should be sitting up.
  • All backgrounds must be acceptable for school use. Students may use the MCSD Virtual Background for privacy.
  • As we learn and grow with the Home Hybrid experience, please review the MCSD Live Streaming Notice.

Attendance for Learners

Weekly Work Flow:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: A student can only be marked present if they have logged into the Zoom session and completed their daily assigned learning activity.
  • Wednesday Work: Wednesdays will continue as Asynchronous Work Days. Students must complete 1 assignment per course by 11:59PM that day to be marked present. Teachers will hold 1 hour of office hours for students to connect and ask questions. Information and Zoom links will be posted to each teacher's Schoology course page.
  • Online Learners: Online coursework is not impacted by the Red Phase for Learning.

During Zoom Classes:
  • Students must connect with video for the duration of the class. Please note that students can use an MCSD virtual background for privacy.
  • If a student is not logged into a session, that student will be marked absent and will be required to produce an absent note in order to be excused. The learner will be expected to make up work from classes missed.

Excuse Notes:

  • Please utilize this form to notify the attendance office of an absence, early dismissal, or tardy prior to the date of the appointment. After the appointment, documentation can be submitted to Mrs. Shelly Bricker at
