Colt Corner

August 25, 2017

Dear Colt Parents,

What a fantastic first week of school! One of our Colt dads recently asked me how I felt the week had gone and without hesitation and a big smile on my face, I told him how it was a great first week of school! He told me it was obvious I love what I do because of the passion visible on my face for CMS. I was quick to point out that is true because of our wonderful students and hardworking staff. Again today, I had another moment of joy when a new Colt mom told me she was worried her daughter had built up middle school to the point it could never be as great as she anticipated but was thrilled to tell me it was even better than she expected! That summed up this first week for me. We have a lot of happy Colts walking around our campus daily, including one proud principal. We look forward to seeing everyone who can make it on Tuesday evening to our open house/curriculum night. Have a great weekend!

CMS Learning Commons (Library)

We are very excited to start the year in the CMS Learning Commons! We have a wide variety of books and electronic resources and I will be showing all the 6th graders how to use the Learning Commons this week. The books in the Learning Commons are carefully selected to appeal to our students and get them excited about reading for pleasure. All of the books in the Learning Commons have been professionally reviewed and are recommended for middle school students. Since there is a large age range between our 6th and 8th students we have marked books that have some more mature type content appropriate for our older middle school students labeled with a with a pink sticker. These books have been recommended for ages 12 and up. If you DO NOT want your student to be able to check these books out email me at so I can note that in their file. Thank you!

Book Fair

We will have our book fair all week this coming week! Swing by and take a peek Tuesday night and meet our new librarian!
