SC Department of Education Parent Climate Survey
Richland One Parents,
The South Carolina Department of Education has released the Parent Climate Survey in the Parent Portal. It will be available tomorrow (Wednesday, April 20) at noon for Richland One parents/guardians.
Once you log in to the Parent Portal, click on the Forms link and the survey will have tabs for each student (if you have more than one child attending school in Richland One). You will click on the tab(s) and complete the survey for each student.
The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, May 27. We are aware of reports statewide of issues with the survey, such as not being able to take it more than once if you have more than one student, but the state has assured us that it is working now.
If you do have an issue with the survey, please use this link to report the issue: https://forms.office.com/r/R9PE8E3hDe.
If you do not have a Parent Portal account, please contact your school’s database specialist who can provide a printout with detailed instructions on how to set up an account. If it is not possible to create an account at this time, the school database specialist can provide a one-time QR code for your student(s) that can be scanned with your smartphone, and this will allow a parent/guardian to complete the survey. If you have more than one student, you will need a separate QR code for each student from their respective school.

Warm Weather Dress Code Reminder!
As the weather begins to change, please make sure your student wears clothes that are appropriate for school. Please make sure they do not wear:
- Short pants or skirts that are very short. The length of lower garments should be within 3 - 4 inches from the top of the knee.
- Jeans with excessively large holes in the thigh area exposing bare skin.
- Bonnets, do - rags and head scarfs that cover the entire head.
- Cropped shirts and jackets that expose midriffs and stomach areas.
Attendance Reminders and Updates
Attendance Policy and Procedures
At Eau Claire High School, we take daily attendance. A student is coded absent for the day if he/she is absent from 3 or more of their assigned classes for that day. When students accumulate three days in a row or a total of five unexcused days at any time in the school year, parents will be contacted to schedule a meeting to discuss the absences and develop an Attendance Intervention Plan (AIP). Should the student continue to accumulate unexcused absences, ECHS will prepare a truancy petition requiring the parent and student to appear before a Judge in Family Court.
Attendance and Grades
Students are more likely to succeed in academics when they attend school regularly. Students who are absent from a class for 10 or more days from a yearlong class or 5 or more days from a semester class will not receive credit for that class and will receive a grade of Failure due to attendance (FA).
Excused (Lawful) Absences
A student who is absent from school must present a note to the attendance office within 48 hours of his/her return to school. ECHS has placed on its website, under “Quick Links”, an easy to complete form to report student absences. No more than 10 parent notes can be accepted during a school year.
Title I Planning Meetings
Please be sure to join us and other stakeholders as we plan for our 2022 - 2023 Title I School wide plan. For more information, please contact our our Title I facilitator Morondo Lewis. Meetings will be virtual and in person.

If your student is sick, please make sure you keep them at home and make our our school nurse aware that the student is sick. Also, please be sure to call and make the school or school nurse aware if someone in the household has tested positive for COVID.

FCCLA students Compete!
The Eau Claire FCCLA Chapter traveled to Charleston, SC from March 8-11 for the SCFCCLA State Conference. These young ladies worked VERY hard during conference on their STAR Events projects that they presented.
Please help me CONGRATULATE each of these ladies. They all have received GOLD and are headed to Nationals in California this summer.
We also have one State officer, Ms. Cherielle Branton. Mrs. Asia Watson concluding her duties as the SCFCCLA State President, and she did an AMAZING JOB.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month!
Our Social Worker, Mrs. Jones and some of our ECHS seniors have partnered with the non profit organization, Restoration803 and former ECHS social worker Ms. Primus to spread awareness!
Unified Special Olympics at Eau Claire!
On April 8, 2022, Eau Claire High School will celebrate Unified School Olympics.
Our goal through Special Olympics is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.
Parent Information Meeting for Football
There will be a football Parent and Player information session on Monday April 4th starting at 5:30 P.M. All students and parents/guardians are welcome to attend. It will be in the Auditorium. Come get information about the upcoming season and meet the coaches for the season.

In honor of Music in Our Schools Month (March), 4 of my 2B Orchestra students and I wanted to share a couple of selections we are working on for our Spring Concert (see attachments), coming up on Thursday May 19 at 6:00pm in the ECHS Theater. Admission will be free and we would love to see as many of you as possible there, so please save the date now
