A Quick Note from your Counselors...
An Important Note from Your Counselors:
All students grades K-5 at FMES will receive a lesson from Mrs. Hart and Ms. Gantt on Erin’s Law during the month of May. South Carolina requires that all public schools provide a prevention-oriented lesson which teaches students to recognize inappropriate touches, unsafe secrets and to tell a trusted adult. Mrs. Hart and Ms. Gantt teach this subject in an age appropriate manner and will send a worksheet home with the student on the day the lesson is taught, for further discussion at home.
Erin’s Law is named after childhood sexual assault survivor, author, speaker and activist Erin Merryn, who is the founder and President of Erin’s Law. More information about Erin’s Law can be found here: http://www.erinslaw.org/
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mrs. Hart (Grades K, 2, 4) harte@fortmillschools.org (803) 547-8075 or Ms. Gantt (Grades 1, 3, 5) ganttk@fortmillschools.org (803) 802-8402
