Sully's Salutations
December 8th, 2014
Updates
Good evening,
I hope this newsletter finds each of you well and having enjoyed a restful weekend.
I wanted to give some important updates about upcoming events in the next few weeks. We have two full weeks of school and a day and 1/2 day on the 22nd and 23rd. There is still lots of learning to do and I cannot urge you enough to help your child balance his/her schedule making sure h/she gets plenty of sleep, eating right and making sure h/she has dedicated time to attend to schoolwork. It is so important to your child's learning to reinforce, review or preview what is learned during the school day!
Just a reminder that due to "Leak Week" we extended the term and the first trimester ends this Wednesday, December 10th. Report Cards will be distributed on Wednesday, December 17th. The Honor Roll Breakfast will be held on Friday, December 19th.
This Friday, December 12th our Friends of Rachel Club is sponsoring a Creative Sweater Day! There will be a first, second and third prize for the most creative sweaters. We are asking students to bring in $1.00 to take part in the day. The money raised will be donated to Friends of Franklin.
On Friday, December 19th the PCC is sponsoring a PJ Day. In order to wear pajamas students need to bring in a $1.00. The money raised will be donated to the PCC to help sponsor our filed trips, cultural events, Winter Wonderland event and other student events. Be on the lookout for Sully next week who may model his winter pajamas!
Communiteen is sponsoring a toy drive through Toys for Tots. The collection box is in the Lobby and we are asking that you consider bringing in a new, unwrapped toy. The collection goes through until Friday, December 19th.
Please see the interesting Blog Post below on how saying no can be a very courageous decision for your child!
On a final note I had the opportunity to hear some very well done Folk Tales in Mrs. Hughes' eight grade ELA classes last week. These stories included the common characteristics of folktales and were captivating. Well done, eighth grade storytellers!
Warm regards,
Beth Wittcoff
Principal
