About LMS LHS PTO
The Lawrence Middle and High school Parent Teacher Organization encourages and supports student and Teacher activities aimed to enrich student experience in Lawrence Middle and High schools.
Membership dues and other year round fundraisers support the costs of the PTO funding of these initiatives during the school year, and all money raised through fund-raising efforts goes towards student enrichment.
LMS LHS PTO is a tax exempt non-profit organization exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c) (3) of the internal revenue code. All donations & contributions are tax deductible under section 170 of this code.
PTO members will receive a printed copy of the student directory upon request and are invited to attend all PTO meetings and presentations. Please join the PTO!
Membership dues are as follows:
· If you have children at both LHS and LMS: $45
· If you have a child or children at either LHS or LMS: $25
Membership Forms & Directory copies will be available at the PTO Meeting and School offices at the Middle School & High School.

October 18, 2016 PTO Meeting Minutes
In Attendance:
- School Administration: David Adam - LHS Principal, Mindy Milavsky - LMS Principal
- PTO Board Members: Jayshree Kalwachwala - President, Michelle Morris - Vice President, Sakunthala Iyadurai - Treasurer, Lori Ossowski - Secretary
- PTO members: 15
Meeting Agenda:
- Middle and High School Principals’ update on respective school events and activities
- Discussions about PTO events, fundraisers and volunteer positions for the new school year
Update by Mr. David Adam LHS:
- LHS 50th anniversary - ongoing school spirit events at the High school
- LHS logo re-branding - magnets available with new school logo.
- Turf field is complete with new logo
- School spirit Events the week of October 24
- Staff will play friendly Frisbee game.
- Turf field opening celebration will include alumni sports and band members as well as current fall sports teams. Information can be found on Quicknews and district Facebook page.
- PSAT day for 10th and 11th graders, seniors not taking test will have an extra 1/2 day excused for college visits.
- Freshmen will participate in team building activities and meet with Academy leaders
- LTPS District accepting bids for 2nd phase of additional turf fields
- Booster club selling raffle tickets
- Hamlet workshop
- Reminder about Community conversation November 3.
- Parent Teacher conferences at LHS on November 21 and 22.
Update by Mrs. Mindy Milavsky, LMS:
- LMS school spirit next week includes pajama day and retro day.
- Continuing Box Top collection
- Over 600 pairs of new socks were collected for charity.
- Breast cancer awareness was discussed with students.
- November parent conferences include new registrations procedures with “Eventbrite”. Instruction letter will be sent next week.
- No Homework night, Wed. Oct. 19
- LMS Book discussion night, Tuesday, Nov 1st, discussing “Schooled” by Gordon Korman expecting 50 attendees including Middle and High school students, teachers and parents.
- Parent Teacher conferences at LMS from November 18 to 22.
Open discussion and questions on planned and proposed PTO events:
- Several PTO members inquired about 5k walk/run fundraiser. Jayshree will check with our Athletic Director, Alison Fisher. Principals pointed out the high costs involved due to security issues.
- Check drive fundraiser was discussed
- When fundraising ideas were discussed, principals pointed out that there are about 25 to 30 clubs in the High school raising funds on their own for their annual activities.
- Parents requested more opportunities to purchase school spirit wear including with access to school store at LHS during parent conferences, Rising Freshmen open house and community Conversation.
- International PTO committee will hold their 2nd annual college planning night on December 7, 2016
- Thursday, November 10th will be our PTO Turning point restaurant fundraiser. School is out.
- Applebee’s breakfast fund raiser on Sunday, October 23rd.
- Cheesecake Factory fund raiser was discussed
- Wawa hoagie fundraiser was discussed. Cami Grahanan volunteered to chair it.
Upcoming PTO Barnes and Noble Book Fairs partnering with various other groups as below:
- Sunday, Nov. 20, 10 am to 8 pm with Model UN and Model Congress.
- Friday, Dec. 9 with LMS music department, raising funds for their alternate year Hershey trip
- Friday, Dec. 16 with LIMBO for High School Music Department expenses
- We will receive a percentage of our Barnes & Noble sales, including in store and Café purchases plus online sale for the following 5 days.
- We will have volunteers offering gift wrapping services at the store in shifts and are allowed to keep 100% of the tips earned that day.
- We have plans to boost our sales by various planned events at the store.
Volunteers are needed for:
- LMS concessions during winter musical
- LMS half day pretzel sales after school
- Barnes and Noble events (gift wrapping)
- Food donations needed for LMS book discussion
- Upcoming PTO donations will include LMS snowtubing, LMS book discussion, and LMS student of the month
