Catholic School Matters

The New Podcast

Last week, my new podcast (also called "Catholic School Matters") debuted on iTunes. This is a weekly 25 minute podcast when I interview thought leaders in Catholic education.

Coming off last week's Productivity issue, the question is why am I spending time on a podcast? What's the big deal?

Most of us know Catholic schools from our own vantage point. We see our students, our teachers, our school and see Catholic education from that prism. But there is more than our individual schools (or dioceses) and I'd like to bring those different stories to light.

Also, there are conversations and innovations taking place right now. So I'm trying to connect those thought leaders and innovators to accelerate and multiply these innovations.

In Episode #1 (there are currently three episodes on iTunes), I interview the new President/CEO of the National Catholic Education Association, Dr. Tom Burnford. He shares his vision for recapturing enrollment and improving our schools. In Episode #2 I interview Anna Larriviere, the superintendent of the Diocese of Lafayette (LA). Anna is an experienced educator who shares her wisdom about leading Catholic schools. In Episode #3, I interview Dr. Kevin Baxter, the dynamic superintendent of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He shares his vision for leadership and for moving Catholic schools forward.

Here is the link to the podcast on iTunes. Please subscribe to the podcast so new episodes (like the one which will drop Monday morning) will automatically download and we can get the podcast into the "New and Noteworthy" section of iTunes. I imagine the show will span the school year. The show is also available on Stitcher and Google Play. If you don't have accounts with any of those content providers, here is the link to my basic page with the podcasts.

I hope you give the podcasts a try!

Dr. Tim Uhl, Superintendent
