Hero Happenings
August 2023 - Volume 7, Issue 1
From the Principal
It's a new school year and I am so excited to begin! I am eagerly anticipating welcoming our Heroes back to the campus for a year full of growing and learning.
Communication with our families is a priority. At Hoover, we utilize many methods of communication. Here are a few to be aware of as we begin the new year.
- Hero Happenings - our campus's monthly newsletter to help families to stay in the know of the things happening at Hoover. It is published on the first Friday of each month.
- Social Media - check out @HooverCFISD on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
- Remind - A text messaging tool utilized by the teachers and me.
- School Messenger - texts, emails, and phone calls shared from Hoover and the district.
- Other methods - phone calls, conduct cards, notes home, and folders.
We have several upcoming events. Information is included below. Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend.
To ensure safety and security, parents/visitors will not be permitted to walk students to classrooms on the first day of school. We will have staff and volunteers assisting students as they enter the building. If you would like to help as a volunteer on the first day of school, please email hoover@cfisd.net.
All families will receive a Hoover Quick Reference Guide. This is a reference with important information for use throughout the school year. I encourage you to keep it in a prominent place in your home to help answer questions you may have throughout the year.
Hoover does not have daily lunch visitors due to:
- The capacity of our cafeteria is limited. When too many people are in a location, safety is a concern.
- Too many visitors overstimulate some of our students.
- Many students struggle with separation at the end of lunch. This creates difficulty when returning to class and back to learning.
We will have special lunch visitor days planned in addition to multiple opportunities for families to be involved in their child's education through various days and activities during the school day and in the evenings.
I'm excited to get started. I hope you're making plans to attend our upcoming Meet the Teacher on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. This is come and go and a great opportunity to visit the campus, see your student(s) classroom, drop off supplies, and meet the teacher. We will also have Hoover gear on sale. In addition to that, Jeremiah's Ice's, one of our community partners will have their truck in our back parking lot if you wish to purchase a delicious Italian Ice.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to working with you this year. See you soon!
