Message from our Principal
Kia ora koutou,
Three Way Conferences
Thank you to the students and parents who attended Zoom 3 Way Conferences last week. We had 93% attendance at the meetings. The children were excited to share their learning progress with you online, as well as their learning goals and next steps. We hope you found the meetings useful in understanding where your child is at with their learning. If you feel you still have unanswered questions, we would encourage you to make contact with your child’s teacher to make an extra appointment.
Teacher Only Day
Today is our last school day for Term 1 for the students. Tomorrow, Thursday 14th April we have our Teacher Only Day, which means school is closed to the students. Teachers will be participating in professional learning on the Local Curriculum which is part of the recently launched Aotearoa New Zealand Histories Curriculum.
Staff Update
We have had much to celebrate at Pinehill School including two of our teachers becoming recently engaged. Congratulations to Miss Jodie Oh who is getting married at the end of April and to Miss Aimee Bradley who is getting married in January. We are so delighted with this wonderful news as we come to the end of Term 1.
Mid way through next term we will farewell our lovely Ashley Shearer. Ashley has been successful with a position at her children’s school. Congratulations Ashely. It will be wonderful for you to be at the same school as your gorgeous children. Thank you for all you have contributed to Room 19 and Pinehill School. Your warm, friendly, positive nature and dedication to teaching will be so missed. We wish you all the best with your journey ahead. Ashley's last week with us is in week 4 next term.
We are delighted that Chloe Warwick will be returning from maternity leave next term, as Ashley leaves and will be the teacher in Room 19 for the remainder of the year. Chloe is very excited about returning and I know the children will be delighted to welcome Chloe back.
It has been a long first term back with 11 weeks. The longest full term we have had in almost two years being in and out of lockdowns. We have noticed, particularly over the last week, how tired everyone is and how ready we all are for a well deserved break. I wish you all a wonderful Easter and holiday break ahead. Take time to surround yourself with loved ones and do those things you love. As I say to the students and staff ‘fill your bucket’.
We look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 2, Monday 2nd May.
Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini
Success is not the work of one, but the work of many.
Ngā mihi nui,
Carla Veldman, Principal

Bakers Delight Pinehill - Dough Raiser Program
Bakers Delight Pinehill will again donate 10% of purchases to our school if you mention Pinehill School when purchasing anything in store. Thank you for your support!
Yummy Stickers
This school holiday, please keep collecting “Yummy” stickers from apples, nectarines, peaches and pears, and barcodes from bags of “Yummy” fruit. This is a year-long promotion. The stickers are exchanged for sports equipment for the school. All stickers and barcodes need to be stuck on the official forms which can be downloaded from www.yummyfruit.co.nz or from the FOPS fundraising page on the school website. You can return the complete forms to the white box outside of the health room in the administration block. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Pinehill School Behaviour Management
Our expectations, procedures and support plan were reviewed by staff, a parent group and BoT in 2021 and now include guidance for parents. Please look at the attached documents which will also be available on the school website.
The Pinehill Way outlines the values identified by our community as the foundation for constructive relationships and behaviour for all. Staff model positive behaviour and set expectations, knowing that wellbeing is a key element of the foundation for a ‘learning focused’ environment. The Pinehill Way is displayed in the playground, classrooms, the hall and available on the school website in several languages. We use Respect and Integrity, aim for Excellence, learn Resilience and to take Responsibility for actions and choices.
