Finish the Semester Strong

The holiday season is upon us and it’s time for students to get focused and finish the semester strong. Please check your grades in PowerSchool, know where you stand. Don’t forget to ask for help if you need it. Your teachers want to see you succeed. Turn in missing assignments, make corrections on assignments when possible, and stay ahead. Finish the semester on a good note, and most importantly, take good care of yourself.

We will be on break from December 20th - January 3rd.

From the Nurse - Vaccination Clinic

SATURDAY

Very excited for the vaccination clinic coming to the school on December 4th, 10-5pm.

It is not required to register in advance, but you may do so at mobile vaccination clinics, then book an appointment, locate the Mancos site and choose a time. Children’s covid-19 vaccination, first time covid vaccination for 12 years and older, booster shots, as well as the flu shot ,will be provided. It is open to the community so spread the news.

As required yearly, I am reviewing each student’s vaccination record. If the school does not have an up to date record, please be sure that we receive one soon. Also, if your child is exempt from vaccinations, the school is required, by law, to have an exemption form. Please be aware that there are new state laws regarding exemption status.

The Colorado Department of Health has also sent out an alert that Colorado is experiencing a rise in chicken pox cases and outbreaks in schools and day care centers. Here is more information.

Freshman Class Fundraiser

Any ornament can be customized with text for an additional $2. The order form below can be dropped off at either the elementary, middle, or high school office along with your payment. Any checks should be payable to Mancos Schools. For your convenience, printed forms are also available at each school office.

Cafeteria

Hello Mancos Families,

I want to remind everyone that the supply/chain issues that the rest of the country is experiencing has affected us from the beginning of the school year but seems to get increasingly worse as the year moves along. This means that our menus are more subject to change now more than ever. Unfortunately, menu items may have to be changed the day of service depending on delivery’s. We are getting reasonable substitutions for the menu items we order, however, we are noticing that some items are not comparable to what we have put out on the menu. Please be patient if your student is not happy with certain items, this is 100 % out of our control.

Our distributors are working very hard with our manufacturers to ensure that the products we receive are comparable and we are all hoping that we will begin to see this turn around very soon. If you have any questions or concerns about your student’s meals, please contact me.

Thank you,

Janet Fogel, Nutrition Services Director

P EBT cards were sent out this week. Many are asking what these cards are and why you might have received one in your child’s name. As I mentioned before, when you apply for free and reduced meals, you may be eligible to receive PEBT benefits. If you have received this card, your household qualified for extra benefits that were intended to supplement families for meals on days that school is not in session during the pandemic. This includes weekends. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

If you have any questions please contact me at 970-533-7745 or jfogel@mancosre6.edu
