Read-A-Thon

Thank you to all who are participating in our PTA sponsored Read-a-thon! We set a goal this year of $20,000 and we surpassed that, reaching over $21,100! Thanks to all who have supported our PTA. These funds will go to help support grade level field trips and to repair/replace playground equipment!

We took some time on Thursday to celebrate everyone's hard work. We announced prizes for the class that raised the most money and that read the most minutes. Congratulations to Ms. Chalberg's class for winning both of those prizes. We also recognized one student from each grade level for reading the most minutes for their grade. These students earned a $20 gift card to Splitrocks for their hard work. Thanks to Splitrocks for supporting our schools!

As a schoolwide celebration, students got to make Principal Newby into an ice cream sundae! Here are some pictures of the fun we had.

Arts & Academics

It's time to get creative! FLE is searching for more students to participate in our Arts and Academics Expo on April 20. Please encourage your child to sign up for 1-3 events. Our PTA sponsors raffle prizes that students could win, plus it is a fun way to show off student talents and abilities. We also want to encourage students to submit a button design for the A&A event. All A&A participants will receive an A&A button. Click here to see the A&A sign up form. Use this link to view the button design form that students received in school today. Spring Break offers a great opportunity to plan a project or create a button design. Please check out the A&A planning website for more information or email clarson@flaschools.org for more information. Thank you for your consideration!

Cameras Now Operating on Buses

Video cameras have been recently installed on all of our school buses. These cameras will help keep our students safer on buses, and will cover both the interior and exterior of the bus. The camera footage will be used to help document and prevent any unsafe behavior on the bus, and to identify and prosecute dangerous drivers around school buses and bus stops.

It’s important to note that these cameras will not be monitored live in real time, but their footage will be used by school administration whenever situations need further investigation. Footage is not available for public viewing.

These cameras were funded in large part by a grant from the State of Minnesota to help improve school bus safety for our students. We are excited to have this additional tool to help provide a safe ride to school for all of our students.
