HIDDEN RIVER HEADLINES 6/25/2019

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Greetings Hidden River Families!
Well here we are, at the end of another school year. As always, this is a bitter sweet time for us here at Hidden River. While most educators look forward to a little time off in the summer, that also means we are getting ready to say goodbye to a group of 8th graders that, quite honestly, have been an amazing and special group of kids. As our 8th graders prepare for new challenges and adventures in high school, we have so many great memories of these kids here at Hidden River and it was difficult to watch them head out of here one last time on Friday. When we get to this point every year I always struggle to understand how the time has flown by so quickly … it literally seems like yesterday these kids were coming in as 6th graders, bright eyed, a little scared probably, and ready to take that small step of independence that comes with being in middle school.
When I think about this particular group of students and their three years here, what comes to mind immediately is a kind, compassionate, happy, sometimes a tad goofy, hard-working and classy group of kids. The class of 2023 from Hidden River will add great value and flare to the high school indeed! This group has been a part of 3 amazing drama productions, as 8th graders they've been our best group of WEB leaders yet, their band performances have been off the charts, they’ve helped us grow and develop our Robotics class into a full-scale Engineering and Design program, they've given great feedback as we've embarked on some changes to how we approach grading, and so much more. As a principal, when I think about what success looks like for a class that is leaving us, one of the measures for me personally is to what extent we will miss their presence here at Hidden River. For the class of 2023, I can say from the bottom of my heart that we will truly miss all of you, more than words in a newsletter could ever express!
A special thanks to all the parents and families connected to these 8th graders as well. Any success they achieve is a direct result of your parenting, your support, and the love and care that you wash over them as they grow during their years of school. Your support, both for your kids and for our school as a whole, is why Hidden River is a special place. Enjoy the summer everyone … GO HAWKS!
