Roosevelt Parent Roundup
9/23/22
Mission Statement
To educate, challenge and inspire every student to achieve personal success and become a confident contributor to society.
Vision Statement
Happy Friday Families
Our Color Run is around the corner. We cannot wait to see you all on 9/30. It's not too late to contribute towards our fundraising goals. See our PTA update below.
10/3 is a NO SCHOOL DAY for students.
Parking in the loop is prohibited. Please park your vehicle in an appropriate parking space during school hours.
Playground Supervision After School-- We love that many of our families stay after school and play on the playground. It's the perfect Autumn weather to visit with friends after dismissal. We are asking all parents to please closely supervise behaviors and interactions with others on the playground. Behavior expectations are schoolwide, no matter what time of day. We appreciate your partnership on ensuring the playground is a safe and welcoming place for all.
Dismissal Reminders:
If you wish to alter your student’s transportation arrangements at the end of the day, please contact the office PRIOR to 3:00 pm. This will allow the office staff enough time to get in touch with your child and ensure the message gets to him/her.
Happy Autumn
Another great tip is to label ALL of your child's personal items! The lost and found should be called the lost and seldom found.
Nuts about Science begins Monday!
The Latest from the LMC
Book checkout is in full swing. All classes have had at least one opportunity to checkout books from the library. Students may bring their books home to read, but must return them to checkout books the following week. Instruction in Kindergarten and first grade has centered around book care and procedures. Second through fourth grade students have been applying what they've learned in books read aloud by Mr. Pinta in a STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Mathematics) project (see picture or visit the Roosevelt website here). Next week students will be working on a scavenger hunt to assist them in finding books in our library before we move into the computer lab for procedures and technology instruction.

Music with Mrs. Canterberry
The Music room has been very busy! We have spent our first few classes learning procedures and expectations. We have been trying to find the steady beat in music selections, and using rhythm sticks or body percussion movements to demonstrate this. The 3rd and 4th grades, as well as steady beat, have been learning solfege hand symbols, and singing the pitch represented by each symbol. Basically, it's the Do Re Mi Scale, vocally copying what we hear while making the hand symbols. I have been so happy to meet the students at Roosevelt, and am looking forward to a wonderful year!

Traffic and Safety Reminders
Our staff may find it necessary to ask you to move your vehicle if you are parked in the loop or creating an unsafe environment for staff or students. Please respect their role in keeping our students safe.
Arrival begins at 8:45 am. All Grade 1-4 Students will enter the building through door #5 for arrival. Students will be dismissed from their respective grade level doors in the afternoon. Kinders enter and exit through door #20.
While we do love our furry friends, dogs are not allowed on school grounds.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping kids safe at Roosevelt.
