Some specific Global winds

Global winds

  • Trade winds- these winds lie between 0 degrees and 30 degrees latitude and are very strong. Sailors used theses winds to help them move their cargo to other countries to trade goods
  • Jet streams- is a band of very strong winds in the upper troposphere. Airplanes use these to travel faster while saving fuel
  • Prevailing westerlies- these winds lie between 30 degrees and 60 degrees north and south latitude and blow from the west
