Library News

OG Families, If your child came to library this week, they probably have books. We talked about the safest place to keep your books....student backpacks. Then the books are always at home or at school. If they are in the backpacks, they are also away from pets and younger siblings who may destroy books. I'll be in touch if your child has missing or damaged books from last year.

Meet Ms. Furminger, 2nd Grade Teacher

Ms. Lexi Furminger is a second grade teacher at Oak Grove. This is her first year of teaching after receiving her bachelor's degree for elementary education from the University of Kansas. While attending KU she worked as a lifeguard, a group leader for the Boys and Girls Club, as a substitute teacher, and taught summer school. Lexi grew up in Overland Park and has a german shepherd named Sampson. She loves playing soccer and volleyball, drinking coffee, and doing art projects. Although Lexi is new to the community, she is excited to get involved and loves spending time with her second graders!

Girls on the Run

Oak Grove Families,

Girls on the Run is finally back for girls in grades 3-5! At Girls on the Run, we inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun and experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. If your 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade girl is interested in joining Girls on the Run, more information will be sent home next week regarding signup, practice dates and times, and the 5K run. We are so excited to have another opportunity to empower our girls at Oak Grove!

This Monday, Aug. 30, we will be sending home our fall online fundraiser SchoolStore.com packets with all students. Your child can earn a prize just for signing up and returning the prize envelope with their online code. All parents need to do is enter some information online, write your child’s prize code on the packet envelope, and have them return the to the office next week. There is no obligation to purchase anything; however if you or your friends and family members decide to shop online at major vendors through this SchoolStore.com program, your child (and their teachers) can earn more prizes.
