HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 4 Week 4 - 2 November
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians
Monday’s 2019 Four Year Old Kindy get together was an engaging and enjoyable experience for all involved. The children’s enthusiastic response to the activities was really a pleasure to witness! Next year, for the first time, our Kindy teachers will also be involved in the Parent Information Evening early in term one, to build on the information shared this week. I thank Bec and Sharni for their willingness to join in.
We are two weeks out from Grandparents’ Day Lunch, where they are invited to come to school for a look around the classes and have lunch with their grandchildren. More details later in Newsletter.
There is a report in the newsletter about our Triathletes performance on Tuesday. Today, the same triathletes are at the Champion Lakes competition! More on that next week.
Have a great weekend

School fees are now well overdue. Thank you to the families who have paid their account in full and to the families who have made contact with the Office enquiring as to whether they have paid their account. The school has financial obligations and is reliant upon payment of its fees. We will be contacting families who have an outstanding account in the coming weeks.

INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
On Friday September 14 Holy Rosary competed in the CPSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival at the State Athletics Stadium with selected students from Year 3-6 in attendance.
This year the sun decided to come out and that set the backdrop for a fabulous day of high energy friendly competition and there were some fantastic team and individual performances on the day.
I would like to thank the parents and staff that helped look after the squad on the day and made sure everything ran smoothly. I would particularly like to thank Mrs Catherall who helped me train the squad in the weeks before the carnival. Her passion and enthusiasm is fantastic to watch.
On the day Saint Columbas came 1st with Holy Rosary placing a close 3rd overall. Holy Rosary also finished 3rd in the Girls Shield and 2nd in the Boys Shield which was a fantastic effort.

WE TRI HARDER!
On Tuesday our Holy Rosary triathletes showed us what they’re made of: strength, grit and determination!
The HaleConnect junior school triathlon program is another fantastic sporting experience for our upper primary children. There was no shortage of Year 5 and 6 hands going up to participate in the five-week after school training sessions, culminating in a “have a go” triathlon.
Our BIG thanks to PE teacher Rob Flexman and Education Assistants Julie Catherall and Sylvia Ryan for all the training sessions at Hale and sharing your passion for triathlon with our children.
We are very grateful to Hale School for this program that connects ‘school’ and ‘community’. A big thanks to their teachers for going the extra mile ;-)

Library News
Our Holy Rosary students are absolutely the best readers!! This week, 1C are the borrowing champions!! With only 4 borrowing weeks left I wonder who will be the final champions for 2018? It’s so wonderful to see everyone so enthused to read and we are grateful to Sr Eileen for covering our new books so they can be read over and over again. Thanks to everyone for keeping on top of their overdue books and finding their lost books. Have a great weekend.

FAQ
A few came up at the HRC meeting last month so I take the opportunity to address them now.
The regular message in the newsletter about overdue fees suggests that there is a high incidence of non-payment. Is this the case?
No it is not the case. The vast majority of families meet obligations on time. Holy Rosary needs fees to operate effectively and fee payment is actively followed up when necessary.
How are classes for the following year organised?
Not all grades are regrouped every year. This follows the school’s policy of broadening friendships (regrouping) and deepening friendships (staying together). Part of our teachers’ work includes determining which grades will be regrouped and how, which teachers will be in which grades, and in which rooms.
There is a lot of work behind these decisions. Teachers take their responsibilities very seriously and I ask everyone to trust them to make the right call.
