Hawthorne LAB School Newsletter
November 3, 2017
Dear Hawthorne Families,
Can you believe we are in November? Wow! Time is flying by. We know that the season is definitely changing. The weather held steady for a while which helped our garden to thrive. Some of our students had the opportunity to harvest from our school garden with Mr. Lee. He has worked closely with our students who have participated during our summer school session to plant, grow, tend, harvest, and, most recently, cook with the ingredients from our garden. On the menu was a pasta and vegetable medley created by our students. Needless to say, they had a blast! We will continue to “grow” with this wonderful tradition in the upcoming growing seasons.
Our teachers and I would like to give a special shout out to our wonderful parents and the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) for organizing and providing a delicious dinner for our staff during our parent-teacher conferences. We are so grateful for your kindness and support! Our parent teacher conferences were filled with positive feedback from many of you.
Our library at Hawthorne LAB School is currently going through a spectacular renovation. With the support of the School District of Waukesha (SDW) we will be able to create a dynamic reading experience for all of our students. Here is where we are so far, and we are looking forward to further updates in the future.
At Hawthorne LAB School, we learn together, analyze thinking, and build on our students’ strengths in order to foster curiosity. In launching our school’s vision and mission, we are so excited to announce every child will receive a free Hawthorne LAB School t-shirt! Again, I would like to thank our fabulous PTO for making this happen.
Be well,
Mr. Nguyen

Christmas Clearing Council Application Information
The holidays are approaching, and we want to remind our families about some of the community resources available in Waukesha this time of year. Christmas Clearing Council Applications will be sent home with students on Friday, October 13. Only one application is needed per family, and our social worker Brianne Leibham will mail in the applications as soon as they are returned to school. The Christmas Clearing Council Application deadline is mid-November, but we hope to have the applications returned to us as soon as possible!
