MVMS Family Update
HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND!
Hello Jacket Families!
For many, Labor Day weekend marks the official start of fall. The weather this week has been spectacular! It is going to heat up this weekend again and continue through next week!
Students have been assigned chromebooks for the year. If your student does not have a chromebook, please make sure your emergency medical form and acceptable use policy are both updated on the parent portal online. These can be accessed on the Mount Vernon website.
This week, the building took the MAP test. This test is given in ELA, Math, and Science. This test allows us to track your child's progress and place them in tiered interventions to become more successful and close any gaps that may be holding back progress in the regular Math and ELA classroom. If you have any questions about this testing, you can contact your child's guidance counselor.
You can always access your student's grades online using Progressbook. If you need help setting up access or need to reset passwords, you can contact your child's grade level guidance counselor.
The first PTO meeting is September 12th at 6pm in the library. We hope you can join us and become a part of the PTO and support our teachers to support our students.
Have a great week!

Pick Up and Drop Off Information
Click here for detailed information with pictures on the Pick-Up and Drop-Off procedure for MVMS and MVHS students.
As the weather changes, we notice more students are getting dropped off in the morning in front of the building. Here are a few reminders from the beginning of the year regarding student drop off: Please do not drop off up at the top where buses are dropping students. This creates unnecessary traffic and safety concerns. Please do NOT drop off in the inner loop. This is for MS and HS staff parking. It is very dangerous for students to cross over the 2 lanes of traffic to get to the building-especially with it being dark.
Daily announcements are posted on our website under the daily announcements tab.
