DISTRICT AREAS OF FOCUS AND IMPROVEMENT:
- Equity and Social Justice

Our Equity Team would like to partner with our parents to fulfill our mission to support our students, staff, and families by identifying and dismantling systems that perpetuate, exacerbate, or produce inequities based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc. If you would like to collaborate with us, please let us know HERE. If you want to learn more about our commitment to EQUITY and ANTI-RACISM, feel free to contact any of our FPHS Equity Team members: Hartley, Marzano, Wright, Laban, Apelu, Brist, Call, Chapman, Detweiler, Fineman, Goodrum, Inman, Kaunda, B. Dear Parents and Students,
- Parents, course registration for 2022-23 is coming up quickly. Please, see some sample courses below and a link to our course catalog. Have a discussion with your child about his/her goals after high school, and begin looking at courses that s/he might take to get a head start on post-secondary goals.
- Daily Activity Bus: We are implementing a new bus pass system for those students who catch the activity bus at 5pm. The intent of the activity bus is to provide those students who want to participate in sports, clubs, and activities to do so without the stress of how to get home. Lately, we've had students accessing the bus who are not involved in extra curricular activities. This has become a safety concern as they are either going off campus and only coming back to catch the bus, or they are here on campus without supervision and catching the bus. Only students with a pass from their coach, teacher, or activity/club supervisor will be allowed to ride the activity bus starting Monday.
If you ever need to see our Daily Bulletin announcements, use this LINK. Running Start and Pierce County Skills Center students, please use this link to keep up to date with FPHS announcements.

Boys' Basketball Update:
Yakima Sun Dome..................The Franklin Pierce Cardinals boys basketball team ended their season Wednesday night at the State tournament with a second-round loss to the Port Angeles Rough Riders 63-53. The Cardinals were riding a 3-game winning streak with their last loss at the hands of the same Rough Riders three weeks ago in District playoffs. The Cardinals battled early and jumped out to 10-4 lead before the Rough Riders tied the contest early. The two teams exchange heavyweight blows to one another the entire with neither team able to pull away. Midway through the second quarter, the Cardinals went scoreless for almost 3 minutes giving the Rough Riders the time to create some cushion and take a 7 point halftime lead. Halftime Score: FP-21 PA-28.
The second half was much like the first, each team exchanging and blows. The Cardinals turned to their pressure half-court trapping defense and gave up back-to-back trey bombs by the Rough Riders extending their lead to 10 and what was seemly the margin they would keep for the remainder of the game. The Rough Riders triangle and two defense limited the SPSL leading scoring, Senior Johnjohn Barbee to 18 points (holding him 13 points under his season average) while Sophomore guard Mason Thomas lead the Cardinals with 20 points. Final Score: FP-53 PA-63
The Cardinals finish the season with a record of 16-6 and made their third straight State tournament appearance.
