Eagle Flyer
August 2023
HELLO and WELCOME BACK from Mrs. Ngo!
I am thrilled to join this wonderful school community as Rosa Parks Elementary’s new principal. This year, my priority is to focus on building and strengthening relationships with RPES students, staff, and families. I am committed to continuing RPES’ long tradition of creating a safe and positive learning environment, where every student thrives in their learning and personal growth.
We are partners.
I truly believe only when schools and communities work together will all students be successful. RPES is a place where everyone’s voice matters, everyone belongs. I eagerly look forward to working hand and hand with each of you. Only together can we create a nurturing space that celebrates diversity, promotes inclusivity, and embraces high academic achievement for all.
This will be a great year!
Sincerely,
Kathryn Ngo (I’m often asked how to say my last name, it’s pronounced “No”)

WE NEED YOU for Principal's Advisory Council!
Please consider lending your voice to our advisory council this school year. Our hope is to have an advisory council that reflects the diverse needs of our school community.
If you are interested, please complete the interest form at the link below as soon as possible if you would like to be considered for a position on our 2023-2024 Advisory Council.
WHAT IS THE ADVISORY COUNCIL?
The Advisory Council is a group of 16 people: 8 parent representatives from the Rosa Parks community, 7 school staff representatives, a PTO Board member, the Principal, and the Assistant Principal. The Advisory Council typically meets bi-monthly and meetings are to be determined.
What does it do?
The Council’s main purpose is to advise the Principal about community and school needs which affect our students. Together, we discuss and make decisions on the Strategic School Plan, the school’s budget, test scores, and the responses to parent surveys.
How can I stay informed about the Council?
Upcoming Council meetings will be advertised in the monthly “Eagle Flyer”. Everyone is welcome to attend. The Council also publishes minutes summarizing each meeting called the “RPAC Notes”, and these council minutes are available on the web page.
How does the Council affect me?
The Council needs your input! If you have concerns, see a need, have a suggestion, or are pleased about something the school has done, please let us know. Each geographic area in our community has a representative. Ten minutes, open chair, are allotted at the beginning of each meeting.
How does one serve on the Council?
Council members serve two-year terms. When a member’s term expires, any person who has a child enrolled at Rosa Parks in that particular geographic region is welcome to volunteer. If more than one person volunteers for an area, a name is selected by lottery.
