Evening Session: Getting Ready!
Raitong Organics Farm, established in 2012, is a small Thai company. It grew out of the desire to produce healthier food, grown under organic conditions, that would enable farmers and consumers to come closer together in the value chain. Originally starting with organic jasmine rice from their farm in Sisaket, the company has grown to encompass a range of seasonal organic fruit and vegetables from over 70 farmers around Thailand.
Additional food (BBQ) and drinks (cash bar) will be provided by Sloane's, an artisanal butcher working with small farms to promote ethical farming practices and Lamai, Thailand's first premium white rum made with Thailand-sourced sugar cane.

Evening Speaker: Meet Bryan Hugill and Lalana Srikram from Raitong Organics
Bryan Hugill, a South African currently residing in Bangkok, trained as a nature conservationist, then went on to work in the environmental sector in South Africa, Switzerland, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Laos, before realising that writing yet another policy wasn't going to make one iota of difference to conservation at the field level. So he resigned from hardcore conservation work and moved into rice farming with his wife Lalana Srikram, figuring that greater achievements could be made through combining the social, environmental and economic aspects of organic farming. He co-founded Raitong Organics Farm Co., Ltd. with Lalana in 2007, learned that organics is not all that different from systems thinking in ecology, hefted untold numbers of rice sacks around, shovelled mountains of pig manure, delivered Munching Boxes, and developed the Ginger Fizz range of 100% natural gingerbeers. And somehow found a bit of time to have a wonderful son with Lalana.
