Three Kings Day is one of the biggest traditions in the Dominican Republic. Beginning January 4th of every year and continuing through the 6th, children write letters to the three kings about what gifts they want and put them into a Christmas tree, give them to parents or place them underneath their beds. The next day, kids place things like grass, water and food and place them underneath their bed for the wise men and their camels to eat when they visit them that night. Children on that day will go to bed earlier than normally. Then their parents sneak gifts under their Christmas Tree and beds later that night. The following morning, excitement fills the town. Everyone opens their presents and spends time with the people dearest to them. Three Kings day is basically the Dominican Republic version of Christmas.
