Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to our Week 6 newsletter.
Thank you
I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to our amazing P&C for coordinating our very special Mother's Day picnic. They worked tirelessly to ensure that we all had a wonderful time. It was lovely to come together as a school community to celebrate the very special people in our children's lives - mothers, aunties, grandmothers and dads who are mothers. The morning certainly had a beautiful feel. We hope that you enjoy the video that we created to capture the memories that we made together with our children.
I'd also like to thank our great school community for supporting our Year 6 Spider Drink Fundraiser. These events build the leadership capacity of our senior students. Together we raised $900 which will go towards subsidising the cost of our Year 6 Farewell and will contribute the Year 6 students' gift to our school.
I am very proud to inform you that Mrs Houben has been successful in landing a role as Assistant Principal Learning and Support at Braddock Public School for the remainder of the year. Mrs Houben has been instrumental in the review and refinement of our Learning and Support Team processes over the past 12 months. Her leadership has had a significant impact on student learning outcomes. Although sad for us, as an aspiring leader, being in a small school provides her with opportunities that are difficult to come by at JEPS. I am sure that you will join me in wishing her all the very best in her new role that commences next week.
Kindergarten Enrolments 2022
Applications to enrol are commencing from Monday 24th May. If your child is turning 5 by the 31st July 2022, they are eligible to enrol for Kindergarten next year.
There are a number of steps we need to complete to finalise the enrolment process.
1. We require the following supporting documentation to confirm your residential status
- 100 points of evidence (the office has a checklist that identifies what documentation you will need).
2. Once we have confirmed that you reside in our local catchment, we then require you to complete an enrolment application and provide the following documents (originals);
- Birth certificate
- Immunisation history statement
- Medical reports, health care plans (if applicable)
- Court order/ AVO documents (if applicable)
If you reside outside of our catchment, you may complete a 'Non-Local Enrolment Form'. With this, we will also provide you with a copy of our 'Non-Local Enrolment Policy' which outlines the process undertaken.
PLEASE NOTE: There were changes to the Department of Education's non-local enrolment processes at the commencement of Term 4 2019, resulting in all schools having a cap on the number of non-local enrolments that can be accepted.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact either myself or our Business Manager Mrs Anderson for further information.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Kind regards,
Yvonne Quinlan
Spotlight on Learning
At JEPS, we foster a love and enjoyment for reading. In doing so, we are aiming to have 70% of all students complete the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) this year. All K-2 students will be completing the Premier's Reading Challenge during their library time. 3-6 students are encouraged to complete the challenge at school and at home. The challenge closes on the 20th August.
We'd like to congratulate Zadyn in Year 3 who is our first student in 3-6 to complete the Premier's Reading Challenge!
To support our reading target, please refer back to the note section in this week's newsletter for a step-by-step guide on how to add books to your PRC reading log. Students use their school logon details to access the PRC website:
Stage 1 students have been learning about solids and liquids. They investigated whether salt and cream, when mixed together can become a solid. Guess what? Yes it can! It becomes butter.
