Washington Character Parade - Thursday, October 31st

The parade is scheduled for Thursday, 10/31 at 2:30pm. Our 5th graders will lead all other students and staff on a neighborhood parade! Costumes are optional. If students are wearing costumes, please remember to wear sensible shoes since we will be walking around a couple of blocks, no weapons, and no masks that obscure visibility. Your child's classroom teacher will provide directions on whether students should come to school dressed or if they will change here at school prior to the parade.

Parents are welcome to attend and watch the parade. Parade Route: South on 68th Street to Lloyd. East on Lloyd Street to 67th Street. North on 67th Street to playground.

If you are plan on taking your child home after the parade, you must ENTER through 68th street doors and check him/her out of the office.

Safety Drills

Dear Washington Families,

We practiced our first HOLD/Medical Emergency drill on Friday. I wanted to inform you in case your child came home and talked about it. We are required to do several safety drills throughout the year. We will inform parents about these drills as we practice them. During a HOLD drill, our students and staff are asked to remain in their rooms with doors shut as our crisis team responds to a possible medical emergency. Students and staff can continue with business as usual in the classrooms, but are asked to HOLD in that location until an 'all clear' is announced. Once again, our students and staff handled it amazingly well and our crisis team was able to practice and assess ways to respond promptly in the event there would be medical assistance needed.

Box Tops!

We will continue to accept physical box tops until there are no more, provided that they are still in date. You may already have noticed the changes on the packaging from products that you typically buy. Moving forward, please install and use the app. It is very easy to use, and we hope to still be able to count on this as a way to make money for our school. For that we will need your help! Please note below, from just one receipt, $2.90! Exponentially we can really make this work!
