First Grade at O.C.T.

May 23-27

Highlight of the Week

5th Grade ROCKS! We were invited to watch the Fifth Graders celebrate the end of their time at O.C.T. with 5th Grade Rocks! They wrote new words to popular tunes with Mrs. Vencill and performed a hilarious and touching tribute to their time here.

App of the Week

Take a trip on Box Island and help Hiro collect all the clocks scattered in the wilderness! In this special Hour of Code edition of Box Island, you will learn the basics of algorithms, sequences, loops and conditionals! The tutorial is student-led and suitable for all ages.

The End of Year is Quickly Approaching!

There will be no hallway readers or book bags for the remainder of the year.

Words Their Way spelling lists have been completed and your students will not be receiving another one. They may continue to work on their First Grade In a Snap words.

The O. C. Taylor BOGO Book Fair is scheduled for the week of May 23-27 (which means it will only be 4 days long since that Friday is an inclement weather day).

Happy Reading!

A Note From Our Room Moms

On Tuesday, May 31st, we will have our First Grade Celebration Ceremony.

At this time our First Graders will be recognized for their hard work and choose something they are most proud of for the year!

Immediately following the ceremony we will venture outside for recess & our family fun picnic

Please bring beach towels, a sack lunch, and your camera. This is the perfect time to

sign yearbooks, capture fun memories with friends, and say “thank-you” to our amazing

First grade teachers.

If you would like to pick-up lunch for your child, you will have time to run and get something special for them!

Hope to see everyone there!

Lost & Found

There are lots of really nice coats, jackets and sweatshirts piling up in Lost & Found. Please stop in and collect your child's belongings. Also, remind your child to check everyday on the way to lunch. Everything not claimed by the end of the year will be donated to GRACE.
