Dear Parents and Carers,
Wow! What a week we have had!
This week we have enjoyed celebrating the Platinum Jubilee with every class involved in a giant tea party in school on Thursday followed by an afternoon tea style school dinner on friday. There were union jack hats and party bags, some fabulous costumes celebrating the last 70 years and music to accompany the festivities. The number and array of crowns brought into school was staggering and we have been so impressed by the hard work that has gone into creating them. It was so hard to choose a winner as I'm sure the Queen would have been happy to wear any one of them! Thanks must go to Mrs Skelton, our History Lead, for organising the events in school, to the Friends of Kirk Fenton for providing the hats and party bags and to the Parish Council for providing every child in school with a commemorative china mug.
Classrooms were open at the end of the day for parents to see the work the children have been doing in school.
On top of all the revelry, Tigers Class had a once in a lifetime trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park to get up close and personal with the tigers this week. The trip was fully funded by the Royal Society as part of a research project and the children were able to see the tigers being fed and to work with the Carnivore Team Leader closely for the day. They had a wonderful time and learnt a lot.
In school, our school council met with representatives of the Academy Trust to talk about school dinners - what they like and dislike and what could be improved. The school meal service will be coming in house from September so we are interested in hearing your views.
Mrs Cameron and Mrs Fitzpatick have been out this week as they are both involved in moderating SATs results with City of York. This has given us a good insight into the process and we can be sure that our results will be accurate when we have them.
Finally, a reminder that Monday 6th June is a training day so children return to school on Tuesday 7th June.
Have a great half term enjoying the celebrations - don't forget the family service and festivities at St. Mary's church on Sunday 5th June at 10:30am.

Message from the Head Boy and Head Girl
This week we have had the chance to dress up as a person from the 1950s all the way through to the 2020s. On Thursday, we had a fun picnic to celebrate the Queen’s jubilee and even the Queen herself came. Also this week we learnt about our decades. Have a fantastic half term.

Y3/4 Gardening Club
What a difference 5 weeks makes. The children have worked really hard with planting and weeding the area. We are looking forward to harvesting Radish, courgettes, strawberries, tomatoes and spring onions next half term. The wildflower areas that were seeded last year are now starting to return to nature and have lots of colour in them.
There are still some spaces available for the new Y3/4 club starting after half term. Please sign your child up on ParentPay .
