Welcome Back!

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. This week marks the start of my 21st year in education and I still get the same nervous excitement for the first day of school that I did when I was a kid! I know that starting remotely with students is not everyone's ideal, but appreciate your willingness to work together to ensure that this fall is a great learning opportunity for your child.

Class assignments are available in Skyward on Monday, August 31. If you follow the directions to log in you can see who your child's teacher will be this year. You will also receive an email from School Messenger with class placement information.

Student supplies will be available for pick up on Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1 from 9:00-6:00 p.m. In the supply bag will be a copy of your child's Clever badge, printed parent guides on how to access Seesaw and Google Classroom, schedules, and information about how to log in to teacher Google Meets.

Before the first day of school make sure your child charges their Chromebook or device. If you need to check one out please come by the school Monday and Tuesday from 9:00-6:00 p.m during supply pick up. We have a limited number of hotspots to hand out to families without internet this week. For those of you that requested a hotspot due to poor internet and/or multiple users we will have more available the week of September 14.

The first day of school is Thursday, September 3. We look forward to kicking off another great year together at Twin City Elementary!

We will be handing out school supplies and technology on Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1 from 9:00-6:00 both days.

The Introducing Me booklet has been included with your child's supplies. Please complete this prior to your scheduled Meet. It will serve as talking points with your child's teacher.

Big picture

Parent Technology Trainings

Last week the district provided technology trainings on how to access the learning platforms your child will be using during online learning. Included are a How To Access one page document for Google Meet, Seesaw and Google Classroom. In addition, the slide deck are provided from the trainings for more in depth understanding. Hard copies of these documents will be provided in your child's supply bag this week.

The law has changed regarding immunizations. All students who are new to the Stanwood-Camano School District and incoming kindergarteners must provide medically verified immunization records or a valid, signed Certificate of Exemption to attend school in person the first day.

Conditional status is granted if students have not yet finished but have received all doses they are eligible for. When the next catch up dose is due the parent or guardian must turn in documentation with in 30 days of due date.

The district website has complete explanation of law changes. Please contact the school nurse with questions.

Meet our PTA

Our PTA Executive Board is simply the best! They will be hosting a Pop Up Shop for families to purchase Tiger Pride tees and hoodies during supply pick up on Monday and Tuesday. Cash, checks and credit card are accepted.

In addition, the PTA created a photo backdrop for families to take "first day of school" pictures. Please be prepared to wear a mask and maintain social distancing if you choose to participate.

Watch for information in September about our annual membership drive and how you can get involved this year with the PTA activities and committees.

TCE Zoom Meetings

I hosted two Zoom meetings last Thursday for families. Thank you to those who were able to attend. Attached you will find copies of the slide deck presentations and the Q&A. Please contact the office with any questions you still have.
