Dr. Miller's Psych Corner
A Quick Self-Check
Today we will focus on three psychological challenges. These are mainstream challenges that most of us are facing to some degree during these trying times. The challenges are stress, depressed mood, and anxiety. Learning how to cope with these challenges is about resilience, and it is a life skill. In other words, developing the skills to identify and cope with these challenges is good for all of us. Below are three online questionnaires that you can take for free. They will help you learn about your stress levels, depression, and anxiety. Try them out. Be as honest as you can. Only you will see the results. You may learn something about yourself that you didn’t know. Note: these self-assessments are appropriate for teenagers and adults. They are from the Mental Health America website: https://mhanational.org/. After each assessment, Mental Health America provides links for self-help.
Stress: This screener will help you learn about your stress level:

Depression: Feeling unhappy, blah, or maybe overwhelmed by sadness? Try this screener: https://screening.mhanational.org/screening-tools/depression?ref=n/a&ipiden=c881da6da47e8dd4ed34a6f4e3255360&show=1
Anxiety: Is worrying affecting your ability to function? Try this screener: https://screening.mhanational.org/screening-tools/anxiety?ref=n/a&ipiden=8e838cd35bec9e90920a79425e2416b7&show=1
As always, if you need help please reach out to the school. If we can’t provide help directly we will help you get in touch with someone who can.
Help out with a Senior Project!
Ben Dupree, working with the Adirondack Foundation, will begin collecting shoes for his senior project starting next week, Monday April 27th through May 4th. There will be totes placed at the ramp of the high school for anyone that wants to donate shoes. No open-toed shoes or heels, please. Only sneakers and boots can be collected.

Lunchtime Live at The Wild Center
Lunchtime Live is bringing The Wild Center to families every Monday – Friday at 12pm. Wild Center educators and animal care staff will be sharing animal encounters, behind-the-scenes looks, projects, and activities you can do in your own backyard. Lunchtime Live can be viewed live on The Wild Center Facebook Page or on our website (https://www.wildcenter.org/digital/lunchtimelive/). Even if families can’t tune in live, archived episodes can be found on the site, to view anytime. More digital content, including a Virtual Visit (https://www.wildcenter.org/virtual-visit), which allows users to “walk” from exhibit to exhibit, and the Wild Content Hub (https://www.wildcenter.org/wild-content-hub/) are also available for those looking for a digital Wild Center experience.

Childcare for "Essential Workers"
We know that the COVID-19 crisis and closing of school has caused many disruptions for our families, particularly related to finding adequate childcare. We are currently working with the FEH BOCES to assist families of essential health care workers and first responders to find open childcare placements with local county and current licensed daycare providers. Essential health care workers may include physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, LPNs, nurse assistants, or lab personnel. First responders may include paramedics, EMTs, police officers, and firefighters. If you are an essential health care worker or first responder and need assistance with childcare, please call 518-483-6420 option 9, or send an email to childcare@mail.fehb.org
