SYNC Returns with 16 Weeks of Free YA Audiobooks

SYNC is a summer reading program targeted at teens aged 13 and older (though anyone can participate). This year’s edition will run for 16 weeks, providing two thematically paired audiobooks for checkout each week, for free, to every registered listener. This equals 32 free books!

Celebrate Student Creators and Change Makers in Your Community with Digital Promise

Join our first YouthMADE Festival, a global celebration of youth creativity and innovation. From May 9-21, Digital Promise will showcase and amplify stories of youth creators and change makers around the world. We invite you to create the experience with us by organizing events or submitting content that champions youth creativity and innovation.

Zoom Update

By July 1, Zoom is updating the registration confirmation page for meetings and webinars to improve the security of registration links.

When an attendee registers for an event, the join link will no longer be displayed on the confirmation page in their web browser. Attendees will find the join link in the email confirmation sent to them as usual. This change will help prevent attackers from obtaining a registration link using an email address they do not control personally and limit unwanted guests from joining meetings or webinars.

April Autism Awareness Month--But It's Every Month!

April was Autism Awareness & Acceptance Month and Educator Alexander supports and donates to Perfect Fit Autism Foundation.

Perfect Fit Autism Foundation was established in 2019 and is a non-profit organization created from social experiences and concerns with our autistic sons. We decided to establish a foundation that would provide social and recreational opportunities for children affected by autism and their parents/guardians.

Sign Up to Test Google Classroom Practice Sets

Google is announcing an upcoming feature in Google Classroom to help students and teachers. Practice sets will give teachers the time and tools to better support their students — from more interactive practice to faster and more personal feedback.

The practice sets beta will be globally available (English only) to the Google Workspace for Education Plus (formerly G Suite Enterprise for Education) and Teaching and Learning Upgrade Editions.

Set up host controls and assign co-hosts ahead of meetings in Google Calendar

Quick summary

In addition to setting up Google Meet breakout rooms in advance in Google Calendar, meeting organizers can also:

  • Turn meeting safety features on or off, such as chat lock, present lock, and more.
  • Designate co-hosts before the meeting.

Dr. Desiree Alexander is an award-winning, multi-degreed educator who has been in the educational field since 2002. She is the Founder CEO of Educator Alexander Consulting, LLC and the Deputy Director for the Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana. Dr. Alexander is lifetime certified in Louisiana in Secondary English Education, as a Reading Specialist, as a School Librarian, as an Educational Technology Facilitator, as an Educational Technology Leader and in Educational Leadership 1. She is certified in Texas as a Principal, in English Language Arts and Reading for grades 4-8 and grades 8-12, as a Reading Specialist for grades EC-12, and as a School Librarian. She holds multiple technology certifications, including, but not limited to, IC3 certification, Google Certified Trainer and Innovator, Apple Teacher, and a Microsoft Innovative Educator Trainer and Expert.

She holds a Bachelor, a Master + 30, and an Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Louisiana State University, a Master of Library Science from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Educational Leadership with a concentration in Educational Technology Leadership from Nicholls State University. She also holds a Doctorate in Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
