Mary C. Howse Elementary School
From the Principal
Dear MCH Parents:
PSSA season is officially over! Our students worked so very hard with focusing and doing their very best. As we approach May, we have a lot of activities upcoming here at "the Howse". Aside from many field trips, we have band and chorus concerts, 4th and 5th grade track meet, Fun day, and our annual walk-a-thon. If you are planning on volunteering in a classroom, please do not forget your driver's license when you come tour main office. If you are planning to chaperone a field trip, your child's teacher has reminded you to be sure your criminal clearances are on file here. Please be sure to also pay your field trip money before the due date established by your child's teacher. Please remember that you are only responsible for the admission costs - the cost for our buses is covered by our PTO, as it is each and every year!
The spring can remind us of new things - as grass grows and flowers bloom, we see lots of change. While our children seem to change, they still look for established routines. This starts in the home - having a morning routine is critical as is getting your child to school on time. If you are struggling to get here before 9:00, I encourage you to place your child on the school bus. Less than 1% of the time is any bus ever late here to MCH!. If your child does not want to ride the bus, but you would like them to, let us know and we can speak to them to encourage them as well. Maintaining those routines at night is just as critical - I realize that outside activities can be taking up a lot of your evenings and games, concerts, and grabbing dinner at a restaurant or drive thru becomes the norm. Hang in there...these times go by fast.
