Greetings Raider Families –

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Schroeder Middle School it is my pleasure to welcome your sons and daughters to what we believe will be an exciting and engaging school year for them.

In addition to our academics we encourage your child to become involved in the extra-curricular and intramural offerings available. We know students who are involved in activities have a much richer overall school experience. Please know we use our free and reduced lunch program to scale the cost of our activities. We want our students involved and will work to assure they are able to participate in the activities of their choosing.

We are prepared to work with you and encourage communication with our faculty as needed. As well, we ask our faculty to communicate with parents/guardians when required – which can be for concerns and when an accomplishment or act worthy of a phone call occurs.

Mrs. Anderson and I ask you take time to tour the school either when your child registers or at our open house on Thursday, Aug. 22 from 5-7pm. Our custodians and buildings and grounds staff have dedicated their summer work in upgrading the sixth grade wing with new carpet and lighting; and refurbishing the gym floor. You will also notice our courtyard is in amazing condition and prepared for activities. Schroeder Middle School is shining and ready for the hustle and bustle of our students.

It is my pleasure to welcome the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students of Schroeder Middle School to the 2019-20 school year. As we do the good work, let’s not forget to have some fun along the way!

With much respect

Mr. Chris Douthit

This year is going to be a little new for all of us. We are excited to have moved to online payments for: bus tickets, athletic passes for high school sports, yearbook, lunch money, chromebook insurance, and chromebook case. Information was sent out previously about this. This is all done through
Some frequently asked questions:
Do I still need to bring in the paperwork? Yes for the chromebook insurance, and athletic registration (concussion, physical, and registration form). There will be boxes set outside the office where you can drop them off.
If I purchase a chromebook case, bus tickets, or athletic pass how do I receive them? You will need to come to the office. We will have a list of those who have purchased these items online. You may do this at registration or anytime druing our office hours.
My student is a transfer this year and still showing up at the previous school. Can I still purchase items? We are working with technology to get this fixed. We are hoping that will happen in the near future. You may still purchase items online and they will transfer.
My student is a 6th grader but chromebook insurance is showing up as 4/5 can I still purchase? This is something that we are working on technology with to get worked out. We are hoping in the next day or two this will be fixed. You may still pay for the insurance and once fixed it will go to Schroeder.

  • Stop into the gym first. This is where your student will pick up their schedule, take their picture, and purchase a gym uniform if needed.
  • If paid online drop off filled out papers in the appropriate box outside the office (If you did not pay online then please obtain the needed paperwork from the gym and come to the office where we will collect your payments and paperwork.)
  • If you purchased online bus tickets, athletic pass, or chromebook case please stop by the office to pick them up
  • Now enjoy walking around the school with your student and help them find their classes, and locker. We always recommend practicing the locker combination.

Below you will see the Caulfield Studios picture packet (they will have these at registration as well). Registration days are when your student will take their school picture. If your student is not able to attend the date of their registration they may come to the other registration date. If neither one of these dates work your student will have to take pictures on the picture retake day on September 20th.
If your student would like to come in the week after registration to obtain their schedule, find their classrooms, and locker they sure can. We will be in the office from 8 - 4. We realize these 2 dates will not work for everyone. We will be here in the office to help out after registration too.

SCHOOL POLICIES: Please review with your student

Cell phone, food, dress code, and medications.

Cell Phone

Students are not permitted to use cell phones or other electronic devices (sound or image) after 8:40 A.M. or during the school day in any unauthorized area of the school building or at any school sponsored events or activities. "Use" of a cell phone includes text messaging, Facebook access, Instagram, SnapChat, and the like. "Unauthorized area" means any area where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy; including, but not limited to classrooms, locker rooms, and restrooms or any other area designated by the building principle. Use of cell phones or image recording devices in locker rooms and restrooms at anytime is strictly prohibited, and students in violation of any portion of this policy will be subject to disciplinary procedures and confiscation of the cell phone or electronic device. If a student's cell phone or electronic device is confiscated, the building principal may search the confiscated property upon reasonable suspicion that the search will yield evidence of a violation of a school rule or upon reasonable suspicion that the school safety or security may be in jeopardy. Disciplinary action up to and including suspension, expulsion and/or citation by law enforcement may be taken against any student using a prohibited device contrary to this rule or in a manner that causes substantial disruption to the educational environment. The building principal or a designee is authorized to make exception to the prohibitions set forth in this policy for health, safety, emergencies or as required by an individual education program.
Electronic devices include, but are not limited to: cell phones, personal music or iPod players, electronic tablets, e-readers, cameras or cell phone cameras, or any variation of these devices.

* Food and Drink Policy: NO outside foods/drinks (Starbucks, pop, breakfast foods from restaurants etc…) will be allowed into the building. A water bottle is fine.

- IF your child comes to school with a beverage, snack or food item they will need to eat it prior to coming inside of the building.

- Breakfast is available in the cafeteria from 7:40 – 8:30 a.m. No food can be taken out of the cafeteria during breakfast.

- Once your child arrives at the school they will not be allowed to leave. You are entrusting us with their safety so they are not to get dropped off at school and then walk to Simonsons (or elsewhere).

- If you bring your child back from an appointment and you have purchased lunch for them they will need to have eaten the food prior to coming back into the building. They can not bring their outside purchased food or drink into the cafeteria to eat lunch. Please plan accordingly so that they have time to eat the food you buy them prior to returning to school.

Dress Code

Please help reinforce our guidelines: Shorts should be as long as a student's fingertips when hands are down at sides (this includes PE shorts), do NOT wear clothing that reveals undergarments, do not wear tops that are too revealing (low cut or show midriff), no clothing that displays drugs, alcohol or sexual messages. Hats, caps, and headscarves/bandanas are not to be worn in school.

Please remember that ALL medication that is to be taken at school MUST have a signed doctor's medication form before it can be administered at school. Please fill the form and bring it , along with your student's medication to the school office. The medication MUST be in the ORIGINAL container and meds must be transported by parent/gaurdians, NOT the student. The form and policy are linked off our website, and are linked to the picture above(pill bottle). We must also have over the counter meds such as ibuprofen or asprin provided from home, along with a signed medication form. Students should never keep any kind of medication in their locker.

Immunizations: Please be sure your child has proper immunizations prior to the first day of school. Also, please be sure to contact our school nurse if you student has any health and medical needs including allergies, seizures, medications taken at school, asthma, etc. to insure we have proper information & response plans on file.

Please read this very carefully as we have had parents/guardians check something they did not actually want to. Option A is the big one to read carefully as if you mark this then your student will not be able to be in the yearbook.

If you click on this link it will take you to view our school schedule of when class periods begin and end.

Just a reminder that all students will be required to wear physical education uniforms. These may be purchased at any local sporting goods store or at registration time in the gym. Dress code rules also apply to PE classes

Schroeder Middle School is structured around the "teaming" model, which simply stated allows your child and his/her "team" of students to work with the same set of teachers all year long, creating a smaller learning community within our large school. The beauty of this model is that it provides teachers time to plan collectively with students in mind. They get to know their students well, plan instruction to meet individual student needs, work cooperatively if issues arise, establish consistent policies, etc. with a focus on what's best for kids. In addition if you, as a parent, need to share something with you child's teachers, you simply need to contact our student's RT teacher and they will share that information with their colleagues to help coordinate what you need. That said, the following is a list of team planning times when you can contact our child's RT, or even meet with all your child's core teachers if needed:

Grade 6:
T-birds: 9:54 - 10:43 am Ravens: 9:03 - 9:52 am

Grade 7:
Hawks: 12:56 - 1:45 pm Eagles: 10:45 - 11:34 am

Grade 8:
Phoenix: 1:47 - 2:36 pm Blue Angels: 2:38 - 3:27 pm
