Congratulations to our Winners!

As you may recall, Palio's Pizza Cafe-Frisco recently collected votes from local students and families nominating their favorite teacher for FREE Pizza for a Month, in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week.

Palio's was on campus this morning to award our Hosp winner and fourth-grade teacher - Tyra Damm! And since the second-place nominee received an amazing number of votes, they awarded fifth-grade teacher Grace Chung with one free pizza.

Thank you to our families that voted and we hope Tyra and Grace enjoy their delicious winnings!

Yearbooks are here!

Students were so excited to get their yearbooks this week and "Autograph Day" will be the last day of school. We do have a few extras available so if you'd still like to purchase a yearbook, please come to the front office with a $25 check made payable to Balfour and our Secretary, Mrs. Dennis, will assist you. Please note the office CANNOT accept cash and ALL sales are FINAL.

Extra yearbooks are available on a first come - first served basis until they're gone! If you already ordered a yearbook online and have questions, please contact our 5th grade teacher and Yearbook Chair, Mrs. Tamney via email here.

Kate Kassen, Technology Specialist

This is Kate's 1st year with FISD and as Technology Specialist, she supports our staff and students with everything from toner cartridges and troubleshooting software issues to managing the music and bell system. Mrs. Kassen is a proud native of Atlanta, GA, and although she finished her last year of high school in Philadelphia, PA, she moved back to Georgia where she earned her degree in Literary Studies, balanced by classes in MIS and other technical areas.

Kate's family moved to Dallas in 1987, where she met her husband of almost 22 years, and they've lived in Frisco since 2003. They have 3 children: Will, a Junior at Frisco High who plays Varsity Soccer; Katharyn, an 8th grader at Pioneer Heritage who is in the ReACTion Theatre program; and Jameson, a 2nd grader at Sparks who loves soccer.

With three children, most of Kate's time is spent at their activities but she also teaches Sunday School and is very active with her church's Life Group. Kate has a wide range of interests ranging from photography and science to cooking and gardening, music and more.

"I am very thankful to have the opportunity to work at Hosp," says Kate. "It's such a positive environment and we have the best staff and a great group of students!"
