The Weekly Roar
May 14, 2018
THANK YOU!
I am honestly at a loss for words. Your kids put on the best Live History Museum I have ever seen! I am beyond proud of each and every single one of them. I was blown away by all of the hard work they put into this project. The boards were stunning, and the way they presented in the cafeteria was amazing. They went way over and beyond what was asked of them, and I can't believe that I am lucky enough to be able to be their teacher.
Thank you to all who made it out. The kids were very excited to see everyone there. I am going to put a few pictures here in my newsletter. I wish I could put them all here!
With a very thankful heart,
Ms Ferrier
Our Week Coming Up At A Glance:
Writing:
- No more spelling quizzes! YESSSSSS! :)
- The students will continue writing their Dr. Seuss inspired stories, using a limited amount of words. This has been fun and very challenging. They can only use 50 words, and several of them have been asking if they can please, please, use more words. It's not as easy as they first thought it would be.
Reading:
- We will continue to work on summarizing using GIST and checking our comprehension by using Author’s Portrait.
- We will continue to practice our choral reading. This is a great way to help with fluency. We read a paragraph together out loud as a class at a pace that I set. The more we practice this, the faster we will get and the more fluent we will become.
- Your child should continue reading or be read to nightly for 20 minutes and then getting their reading log initialed.
- We finished Old Yeller! We will be starting a new novel, Number the Stars, as we prepare to lightly touch on the Holocaust.
- We will finish up our discussion on the Civil War, and start moving into industrialization and modern America. In this last section of social studies we will be covering the industrialization revolution after the Civil War, World War I, The Great Depression, World War II (This is where we will lightly cover the Holocaust), The Cold War, The Civil Rights Movement and The Information Age.
From The Seele Office:
Due to schedule changes we will be a closed campus at all grade levels. All lunches need to be brought to school in the morning. Please do not drop off lunches on these days. Thank you for helping us by keeping these testing days as low key as possible 5/14 – 5/17.
