Mylan Park Elementary Newsletter
December 2020
Mrs. Lupo's Message
Even though they are wearing masks, social distancing and learning virtually, our students have accomplished so much both academically and socially. Thank you for your support, patience and flexibility as we continue to navigate through our "new norm".
The success of our students has been through a collaboration of parents, teachers and students working together. Our students being active participants in their learning is imperative to their academic success.
I would like to wish all our Mylan Park families a safe and happy holiday season! Winter break begins December 24th with classes resuming on Monday, January 4th. Even though the holidays can be busy, please take the time to read with your child everyday.
Have a wonderful and safe break. We will see you in 2021!

Mylan Park to participate for the 4th year in the world-wide Hour of Code event!
What is the Hour of Code?
The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science.
When is the Hour of Code?
The Hour of Code takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week. The 2020 Computer Science Education Week will be December 7-13, with the Mylan Park Elementary School-Wide Hour of Code on December 10th. Computer Science Education Week is held annually in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906).
We are excited to offer various computer science activities throughout the week of December 7th in honor of Computer Science Education Week. (Check your student's e-learning calendar for more information on how your student will participate.)
Why computer science?
We take pride at Mylan Park that every student has the opportunity to learn computer science in their classroom and in our Innovation Lab. Computer Science helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path. We like to say at Mylan Park that "Patriots love to Code!"
