From Bencik's Desk

Thank you for another incredible week. We are excited to see the procedures and routines starting to take shape in our building. Students are excited to be learning and socializing with their friends. We are continuing to celebrate one another as we learn and grow. It was great to see so many families who came out to the Back to School Extravaganza. Thank you to all who came to enjoy the event.

Busing

We ask for your patience with the buses. We know that some of our routes have been late or not arriving at all. We are working with the bus company to get this fixed. As of today, we will be combining two routes, 109 and 110. This will allow for our students to all get picked up from the school at a reasonable time. The times will be updated in Skyward after 7pm this evening. Please check your bus stop time for any adjustments. If you have questions, please call the office.

Traffic

NO CARS will be allowed in the school parking lots during arrival and dismissal times. Students are expected to report to their designated doors for drop off. Please note we follow all traffic signs and symbols in the community. Please do not park on any yellow painted areas in the community or run the stop signs. Our police officers will begin to issue tickets moving forward. We are trying to keep our students safe.

PTA Information

Welcome Back Hometown Families! We are so looking forward to this upcoming year. We can't wait to get back to doing all the fun things for our students like Assemblies, Craft Nights, Book Fairs, Ice Cream Friday (starting Sept 3rd), Bingo, Family Game Night and so much more.

None of these amazing events would be possible without your support.

We have two ways you can help the PTA this year -

#1 - Become a PTA member. The cost is $10.00 per household. It's quick and easy to sign up and helps us out so much.

#2 - Sign up to help with events throughout the year. We have so many opportunities to get involved. If you are interested in helping, but don't know where to start or have questions about what is involved with each committee please send us an email to D123HometownPTA@gmail.com and we'd be happy to help you.

Book Fair

Please see the attached Book Fair Flyer for families. There should be a hard copy in your child's folder. Start saving those coins to purchase a good book to read.

Membership Contest

Please see the flyer for PTA Membership! We would love to have as many as possible join. Popcorn parties are the best! Help your child earn the popcorn party by joining PTA.

Travel Restrictions

Any family traveling for vacation will need to follow the travel guidance issued by the Cook County Public Health department. Travel advisory is currently in 14 states and with international travel. Hometown School will enforce the quarantine guidelines. If your family is in this situation and need assistance with protocol, please call and speak with Mrs. Bencik.

Pick up and drop off Doors

As we transitioned from the construction, we appreciated your patience with where to drop off students. Please review the map. Due to some congestion and busing in the front of the building our Kindergarten pick up at the end of the day will be door 8. Please view the map for further details.
Big picture

Family Engagement Activities

Please view the attached document for our spotlight family engagement activities. We are offering something each month for families to get involved in and celebrate one another.

Health and Safety

Masks

Governor Pritzker announced through an executive order that masks are now required for students, teachers, and staff at pre-kindergarten - 12th grade public and nonpublic schools throughout the state. The new measure is part of the state’s ongoing effort to combat the surge of the Delta variant. Hometown school will follow the mandate.

Temperature Checks

All students will be temperature checked as they enter the building daily.
