Expectations
I have been asked to reiterate expectations for work hours and supervisory responsibilities. After conversations, discussions, feedback, and input last year, the expectations for work hours follow. As per the contract, teachers work an eight hour day. Gatewood's defined eight hours are 8:15-4:15. Sometimes, things interfere with arriving by 8:15. 8:15 is the expected arrival time, arriving by 8:30 is okay (remembering to fulfill an eight hour work day), arriving regularly after 8:30 is not acceptable. Pets, kids, weather, spilled coffee, other drivers, etc., may interfere from time to time and may necessitate an occasional late arrival. That is okay.
Licensed staff members are expected to be on duty and ready to welcome and supervise students starting at 9:23, ten minutes before our official start of 9:33. In the afternoon, all teachers walk their students out to the buses. It is expected that one member of each team remains outside to supervise bus dismissal until the last bus has left. In the event that buses leave after 4:15, teachers are not expected to remain on duty supervising students. Support staff members will be responsible for supervising students waiting for late buses.
If you have any questions or need further clarification, please see me. Thank you.
