Dear Robert Hunter families,
We had a successful week with our Cohort A Hybrid students! It was great to see so many smiling faces (yes we can see them even with masks!) in classrooms and outside the building taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather. It is also great to see all of the creative instruction and meaningful learning experiences that are taking place virtually! Our teachers are AMAZING and are working so hard to navigate through challenges and support the needs of RH children!
We know that Halloween is approaching and with it a reminder of school traditions. Halloween will look different at RH this year. However, we still want to celebrate and share in special experiences together! We encourage Cohort A to wear their costumes on Oct. 30th and Cohort B to wear their costumes on Nov. 2nd (Hybrid as well as Virtual for both dates.) Students should come to school in their costumes and will remain in the costumes for the day. Please opt for a costume that is comfortable to wear all day. For the safety of our school community, masks must be worn in addition to costumes all day.
Unfortunately, no visitors will be allowed in the building for any celebrations and we are unable to have our traditional parade this year. We are looking into the possibility of a virtual parade for students to see each others’ costumes! Although homeroom parents are unable to be in the building, they are encouraged to reach out to teachers regarding any special activities for the day.
Please note that next Tuesday, Oct. 20th is an “early dismissal” for staff professional development, so there will be no live Zoom classes on this day after 1:20. Students on their White Week will not have their afternoon Zoom classes with their homeroom teacher.
Please remember that our book fair is ongoing until Oct. 25th! Also, if you haven’t done so already, please sign up for drive-through pictures - taking place Friday and Saturday!
Thank you for your continued support. Please continue to reach out with feedback and questions.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Glaab and Mrs. Braynor

Drop-off and Pick-up
In order to ensure the main road is clear and arrival/dismissal runs efficiently, we have a change in the traffic pattern for our drop-off/pick-up line:
If the parking lot is full, enter through the second driveway. Proceed through the second driveway, enter the staff parking lot, and make an immediate right. The cars will line up through the lot in a double lane as a staging area and then loop into the main driveway and be able to link onto the pick up/ drop off lane closest to the building. As a reminder, please ensure children are ready in the back seat on the passenger side of the car with book bags ready and masks on. For families with younger students, please practice having children get into and out of the car independently.
Also, please remember to email your child’s teacher, Wendy Chambers, (wchamber@frsd.k12.nj.us) and Robyn Bennett (rbennett@frsd.k12.nj.us) if you are picking up your child. We ask that you email in lieu of sending in paper notes.
Materials Pick up
Beginning this Friday, October 23, we will have a table outside under the overhang in the front of the building where families may pick up materials for virtual learning. Each container will be labeled with grade levels. Teachers will label bags for students and alert families when they are ready for pick up. The tables will be outside every Friday from 9-4pm.
Chromebooks
Grade 2 students will be receiving new Chromebooks. Each child must return their school issued iPad in order to receive a Chromebook. Families of 2nd Grade virtual students - please return your child’s iPad and pick up his or her Chromebook by Tuesday, Oct. 20th. Families that graciously donated school iPads will receive a Chromebook and must complete this exchange with our office staff in the Main Office.
Quarantine Procedure
If a child exhibits Covid like symptoms while at school, they will report to the isolation area within the school. School staff will call families to pick up their child immediately. Families will park in the side parking lot and pick their children up at the door labeled with a Red Cross. We ask that all contact information on Parent Portal is up to date.
Please note, if your child is asymptomatic and needs to quarantine, he or she will be able to participate in the White Week schedule. Hybrid students on the Blue Week schedule can participate in the virtual lessons that take place at the end of the day as well as the asynchronous activities. In Genesis, students will be marked as "Present-Quarantine." If you are traveling to a state that is on the travel advisory list, the district protocol is that students quarantine for 14 days before returning to school.
