From the Director
Dear CDS Families / MS
CDS Middle School is committed to ensuring that learning continues during this unfortunate period of school closure. With this goal in mind, CDS teachers have outlined what students are expected to learn and accomplish from home in each of their classes each day. Teachers will be checking email and Google Classrooms several times each day in order to respond to inquiries. Students are encouraged to reach out at any time if they have questions.

Staying healthy is of paramount importance. We strongly recommend that students do not meet in physical spaces to collaborate at work; instead we encourage students to make use of Google tools to collaborate in virtual spaces. We encourage students to avoid gatherings of any kind - social or otherwise - during this critical period.
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me, or your child’s teachers at any time.
Best regards,
Mr. Scoville

CDS MS Students Learn that Fair isn't Always Equal
6A's collaboration with FP students!
This week, students from 6A delighted FP kindergarteners for their Book Week event - Reading Buddies. Each Grade 6 student chose books from Ms. Pabon’s classroom library and read to the littles, who seemed both excited and interested in our MS students’ readership. I’m not sure who had more fun, though! Thank you CDS Middle School students - you showed great character this week. Keep it up!

Changing the perspective of a novel with Grade 8
These days, CDS eighth graders are studying different perspectives in a novel. The contents of a novel change depending on which point of view is considered . The eighth graders read two novels - 사랑 손님과 어머니, 내가 그린 히말라야시다 그림 - and they chose one of those to change the perspectives and reconstruct the story completely differently from the original novel. Through this group activity, students would experience that there are a range of ways to analyze and understand the novels.

G7 Create and Share Storybooks on Life-cycle of Animals
Most of the work was done on the computer using Google docs and Google draw. After printing the books out we set off for the FP where 7A read to 3rd grade while 7B read to 4th grade. It was a great opportunity for the 7th graders to set an example for their younger peers and share the knowledge they’ve gained through their research. The FP kids also seemed to enjoy the enthusiasm and attention they received.

[MS KAIAC Athletics (Upcoming Winter Season)]
Dear Parents /
Please be informed that CDS will postpone collection of the Athletic Fee for Volleyball and Table Tennis until the end of the Winter Season. This decision is in response to many KAIAC jamborees being cancelled as a result of the Coronavirus. Those of you who have already paid the fee may receive a partial reimbursement relative to the number of events that end up being canceled. If you have any questions, please contact our CDS Athletic Coordinator Mr. Monnette: smonette@daltonschool.kr
Best regards,
Mr. Scoville
