Greetings AES Families!

Thank you for taking the time last week to meet with your child's teacher. Conferences are such an important way to be involved in your child's education. We value the opportunity to share progress and work together.
We know that many families may still have concerns about school safety and the recent security threats. We are listening! If your child has questions or concerns, please let us know by either reaching out to their teacher, our counselors or me and Zoe. This month we are canceling our scheduled drills to avoid further disruptions. During our early release professional learning, our staff will further develop knowledge and practice using the Raptor emergency system.
To learn more about the STANDARD RESPONSE PROTOCOLS we follow, please click here. During these situations it is imperative that parents allow staff to give 100% of their attention to the safety of the students. Please refrain from texting your child's teacher or your child while in these situations. You can expect to receive a message from the school at the start of any of these protocols. Following that initial message,ASD Communications will provide updates at least every 30 minutes. If you have questions about any of these protocols reach out to Zoe Stern or Ashley Bodkins.
Thank you for your participation in the Read-a-Thon! We have almost reached our goal... please encourage your child to read nightly and record their minutes. We are overwhelmed by the funds raised during this event. All of the donations we receive will be put toward books for classrooms!
In partnership,
Ashley

Pitkin County Library Cards
Why should my child have a library card...
1. Having a library card gives a child a sense of belonging to the library.
2. With a library card, a child will have access to the computers at the library and free wi-fi connection, online databases, audio books and more!
3. Having a card and visiting the library often increases the opportunity to learn to read.
4. Children with a library card are more likely to see the library as a positive place and form a relationship with the librarians that allows them to feel comfortable asking for assistance with information.
5. Having a library card adds to the enthusiasm a child feels for the library.
